Well we need to give him elite money if we expect him to be elite, that’s for sure. Do we have any numbers, even ballpark, on the actual difference though? I know UNC Baseball got a 9 million dollar donation recently. We certainly aren’t poor.

Regardless, I don’t understand why you are downplaying my point. It would hurt like a mother******* for any fan base to suffer that kind of collapse two years in a row.
You said we should question Forbes I think that’s BS

Maybe it is BS, I’m definitely not any kind of baseball expert and I don’t have all the financial information and other factors. I just want us to be elite and I am going to be frustrated beyond belief if that scenario plays out. Something would need to change with the program quickly, whether that be funding, assistants, or something else.

I’ve watched it back a ton. Maybe not hung. But it was on the catchers glove side. Not the side you want to miss on, however small the miss.
It’s in the lower half of the zone, not in any world was it a bad pitch. Just because the kid squares it up doesn’t mean anything. It was a great swing in a good pitch. It happens.

You

You can't forget the formula that got you here, and that is Glauber on relief with the lead. Do you even realize how many inherited runners Walker has allowed to score. They are not charged to his ERA. Again. This is the Super Regionals. You have to go to Glauber in that situation. That's been the winning formula.
Remind us again how many coaching wins you havre under your belt? And please don’t come back with the lame “anyone knows that” if you haven’t ever been tasked with making those decisions in real time instead of hindsight. Hint: Church league softball doesn’t count.

Would anyone be upset if Forbes goes to Glauber over McDuffie in that spot? Feels like he almost wanted to give the older McDuffie a chance to redeem himself from last year when the easy choice was your best pitcher (Glauber) to win game 1

Hope so, but I doubt they shut them down. The bottom line is we are going to have to score lots of runs. Probably unrealistic but we probably need double digits tomorrow and Sunday. Their(USC) offense was my main concern coming into this weekend.
You didn’t respond to my question if your daughter ever suggests you are constantly negative?

Never coached. Baseball career ended in the minors with shoulder injury. Was a scout for the Yankees for 14 years. I dealt with some of the best managers in baseball all those years. You don't have to manage to know baseball. What's your pedigree mister. How many games you managed since you seem to know it all and like calling people out. I don't call posters out. They are entitled to their opinions, but I will call out coaches considering how much money I've donated to Carolina over the past 50 years. How about you? Huh? Let's hear it.

I just don’t know. I think Forbes made the right call, only because I think Jason won’t be able to go as long as Ryan did, and we will need Caden to go longer. Walker unfortunately just didn’t have it today.

Said this during the game, but I wonder if McDuffie gets hot quicker in the pen. It would make sense to me just given how they throw and that McDuffie has been a reliever multiple years now. This is the risk: it’s really hard to manage the 3rd time through when your starter seems to be rolling. They got 3 hits in like 6 pitches.

NIL. We simply can't spend the kind of money on baseball that SEC teams can, not while trying to build up the football program and rebuild the basketball program. We needed to move to the SEC years ago, but Swofford screwed us.

That’s a good point on likely needing Glauber to go longer tomorrow. I just can’t help but think you do everything you can to win game 1

My pedigree doesn’t matter because I’m not questioning the coaching accumen of the guy who has UNC in the super regionals three years straight. So it’s all about you trying to show up Scott Forbes here. Have at it, bubs. Show out and let’s critique your coaching.

I can’t find actual NIL numbers but found this total budget (excluding revenue share and most other NIL deals). We are #18. That is not good. We should be spending #10 money at least. I would hope our NIL is at least slightly more competitive than this and we are just efficient with our overhead budgets, but it doesn’t look great.

We're in the ACC, and we're prioritizing football and basketball. Pretty hard to be top ten in funding under those circumstances. We should have left the ACC this summer, but the PTB have refused to jump thus far.

Is that you Mrs. Forbes? He blew it. I wasn't trying to show him up but stating a fact. You have to win today not hold back. Go with what got you here. Glauber may have also blown it but now hell have to pitch tomorrow and probably a lot and with this heat if they win Sunday probably not looking good having to go with Boaz and Walker. Sorry, but I'm not from the "everyone deserves a participation ribbon" crowd or a pat on the back with a "good job" added in no matter how bad you sucked.

I think we still have a good shot at this series but if we are going to win Decaro has got to man up and Winslow and Coop have to do something or get out of the way. McDuffie will be fine. I think you can definitely tell that he has been used a lot but he can still get the job done. This group just needs to bow their necks and Forbes has to be willing to make decisions that might hurt some feelings.

Clearly we had opportunities and didn't manage to cash in, and I am sure McDuffie would love to have that 1 pitch back (as well as the ball 4 pitch). That said, it is a 2 out of 3 series, and we need to manage what we can. My guess is the plan is to pitch DeCaro (hoping he can return to form) and come in with Glauber when needed. If those 2 are on par with what they are capable of doing, we can hopefully save the relievers that pitched today for Sunday. It is a win or go home situation, so I assume everyone is available except Lynch tomorrow. Also I expect everyone to be on a short leash if things start going south.

Second guessing in hindsight is so easy.

None of that will matter if we are down like today and their bullpen shuts us down.
I could be dead wrong about this as I was not in attendance, but I did not think McDuffy had enough time to warm up. Control wasn’t there and despite a comment or so above, the home run was hit off a middle/middle pitch. It was replayed multiple times. He just wasn’t ready to pitch today. It happens. Easy to second guess, but I thought Ryan should have pitched to one more batter. One of his last pitches hit 97 so he still had a lot in the tank. Also, MM has not been himself since he was hurt and he came in and screwed the pooch again. Just can’t count on him now. Should have gone to Rose when we were down 6-5. Lastly, with few exceptions, our batters were not competitve after we got the 5-1 lead. Has happened multiple times this year against good pitching.

In any event, don’t count us out. Think we win tomorrow and then all hands on deck. Don’t count the Heels out.

They’re mistakes when they don’t work. We had one of our best 2 relievers who eats up righties against their worst right handed hitter. He threw a hanger.
That’s not the mistake. In my opinion, once you give up the grand slam to go down one, you have to go with Rose for 3+ innings.
