You did say Knicks in 6. I saw it
that's good ! I'm not able to remember my own gut feelings these days.

haha

I love watching high level basketball like this. Truly entertaining. I'm cool with whomever wins. I think this is all a rebirth oif the late 80's and ninties when I watched NBA hoops constantly, it was best then, for my tastes. and now, with OKC, these Spurs coming along so awesomely... the Knicks, I love those Cavs and Timberwolves.... I find myself watching more and more, and of course, all the Kentucky players out there make it fun to follow.

I like this knicks team. Jalen is just that guy. Feel bad watching fox though seems like he doesn’t know where he belongs on this team or maybe the ankle really has messed with him.

I dont know how anyone can NOT like this Knicks team. I get people hate NY. But this team man, just plays so well. Everyone is a dog. "Lunch pale" type of guys. We have a Kentucky player on the team that helped us win 38 straight. Two Villanova guys who were on great teams.

You have to appreciate what theyre doing.

I've not been a fan of the NBA since 2017. But I'll tell you the playoffs I've been blessed to watch this year they were just on another level I haven't really seen just a few short years to go.

YES! Even if a preferred team loses I love watching Kentucky players win a ring. It does the heart good!

Wow what a win. I lost a lot of interest in the NBA over the years but maybe it was because of the warriors? Don’t get me wrong they were amazing and the best shooting team ever but it was such an insanely boring style of play just chucking 3s all day the knicks won this with defense and tough midrange games which was really entertaining to watch.

Also Brunson looks like he’s playing his 58th minute in a triple OT game 7 every single time I see him. It could be the 1st minute of game 1 after a 10 day rest and he looks completely exhausted.

Knicks are just the better team. It's not rocket science.

Dude they are dogs and don't wilt. They were generate turnovers and making clutch plays exactly when they were needed. How can you not appreciate it? It's beautiful.

Yeah. Watched them a few times. Was bummed when they traded quickley for OG but obviously a good move for them. The knicks all know their roles and don’t shy away from it.

This was a great game one finals. I mean, if the Knicks are going to win it? This is the time. They have proven they are ready and are there. And when you look at the other truly great players, jordan, james, etc, all of them took more than just 3 years before they were on a team that won a title.

some NBA execs and other insiders mentioned this back when Wemby was drafted, how they saw it unfolding.... and now here it is, and three eyars into it, he's in the finals.

But will this be the year?

I am still thinking there are going to be some more growing "pains" before the Spurs get there. And the Knicks are so focused....

I have to chime in and say I've spent time in Buffalo and in the dead of winter too, and lake effect snow when I was there that was historic even for Buffalo when I was there..... but I have always had the best New York state friends and best times when I visited New York, actually.

It sure looks like they are going to party late into the night tonight.

Spurs facing a must win game two ? Already ? The other thing that is killing me is that if you lookk around the NBA, there are so many sub plot stories galore, pick your poison.

and now, with UK landing Momcilovic, we got at least a little mojo to be cautiously optimistic with.

I'll take my chances with this team, this coach, once again, this year. Blue till' I die.

Go Big Blue ! (Go KYnicks ! haha!!)

I would like to be in NY now too. But a bit west. I would love to be at Saratoga for the Belmont.

A friend offered us tickets and a place to stay.

Buy my better half is not interested.

Now youre talking! I actually dont care much for NYC these days. I wont deny its turned to ****. And just too many people.

I would absolutely rethink going to Saratoga. Its unreal, especially for Belmont or Travers. I havent been to any of the triple crown (except for Belmont), but ive been told that 'Toga is nicer than all of them.

If I had to recommend one thing to someone coming to New York. Its to get up to Toga during track season.

How does this change everyone's predictions? For me, its a big one. I initially thought Spurs in 6 or 7. I think Knicks in 6 now. I saw everything I need to tell me that Knicks can hang with Spurs and the Spurs young-but-talented roster wont be enough, not for another year or two.

The whole "can the Knicks do this outside of the east?" Has been put to bed in my opinion.

I'll say this, that New York team has a winning aura. Like they know they're going to win. That game 1 win is massive. Even if the lose game two they won by getting a win in SA. I can def see the Knicks taking this and I'm rooting for them now. I was ambivalent.

Ah ok. So you know New York extremely well.

Yessir.

An interesting thing about the Knicks that people probably dont know or might not even believe.. NYC is a Knicks town. Not a Yankees town, not a NY Giants town. They love those teams, but its easy to love a team like the Yankees with their history.

But when the Knicks are good, they are #1. And part of that is because every other sport had 2 (or 3) teams for NY. Brooklyn Nets are still largely considered New Jersey Nets. So it helps that the entire city rallies behind the Knicks, when its divided otherwise (yankees/mets, Rangers/islanders, etc). NYC is basketball first, and Knicks above all.

We have been there once. And it was Travers week.

The race track is the hub of the city/town.

people are crowded around Saratoga having parties and such and never see a race.

we stayed at The Inn at Saratoga.

Great place. Only other track with that same kind of community feel is Oaklawn in Hot Springs. That community exists for the track. Saratoga is like that. It’s different as night and day from NYC. And we love visiting NYC too.

It really feels like the Villanova teams, and not just cause of Hart, Brunson and Bridges.. but because those Nova teams really weren't the most talented teams or the fastest in those tournaments (imo), but they just played so well and so smart.

Spurs and even OKC feel like a combination of athletes that are also great at basketball. And that certainly works. But Knicks feel like a collection of hoopers, who won't win on speed or athleticism. But smart basketball. Its like a team of friends going on their 30th year of YMCA basketball.

OK, ill stop blowing them now. Lol.

Man that's interesting as crazy. So the whole of New York are Knick fans, they just hadn't had a lot of success recently so a prestigious team like the Yankees is what people see just because of who they are?

I saw the celebrations of them making the finals and they were wild and so many turned out. I've read it'd be absolutely insane there if they actually win it. But man I wasn't alive the last time they won. The Spurs won 6 in my lifetime. They are gonna win multiple more with Wemby and that core. Let Knew York get this one is my opinion. Again I was totally ambivalent till tonight.

Oh its must win game 2 or the Knicks going to sweep. MSG will rattle the spurs if they smell blood.

Buffalo is a cold cold place lol. Ive been to some Bills games in November and December, brutal.

Great game 1! Love watching Brunson in iso. Wemby can’t guard KAT far out on the perimeter. He’s not Chet. Wemby and Fox both played bad. Wemby’s lack of a post game is the only thing that holds him back. Spurs coach messed up not playing Harper more. He was consistently scoring. Spurs will rally game 2. That being said, go Knicks. (Just threw up a little typing that).

I think a lot it is that im some of these huge cities, like an LA or NYC, each sport might have several teams to root for. Brooklyn only moved from New Jersey like 15 or 20 years ago, and it honestly never quite took off IMO. Everyone is still a Knicks fan. But when you look at the NFL.. you got a huge mix of Jets, Giants and Bills fans. So theres definitely some cannibalism going on.

I also think New York is also basketball-first. Its a dense city so that lent itself to much more basketball courts than hockey rinks or football fields. You have the heyday of the Big East and the BE Tournament. So many great basketball players came from greater NYC area. And then compare it to football or baseball.. not a ton of talent in NY. Certainly not like in the south or Ohio Valley or California. I think thats why basketball and the Knicks will always be NYs first love.

Everything that the pro-Knicks side argued for, came true last night: playing in a weaker eastern conference didnt matter when you're winning games by 40, KAT and Mitch are true/traditional big men that can push Wemby around, Brunson is the most clutch player in the NBA right now, and their experience is just far greater than the Spurs at this moment.

Even I was surprised by this, because I still thought in my heart, the Spurs would win in 7. But at the same time, maybe this shouldn't have been a surprise at all.

Still more games to be played. But ill add this hot take: im not sure the outcome is any different if OKC is on the floor last night. I said what I said lol.

Pulling Wemby out deep and then letting KAT blow past him and create space through speed worked great. Hell of a win last night.

I think tomorrow’s game will be completely different.

If not go ahead and give the O’Brian to the Knicks and don’t bother going to MSG. 😁

Spurs coach is young. I wonder if he 1. Is experienced enough yet to make the right adjustments and 2. Is he kind of just the coach at the right time with Wemby?

Thats gonna be key here. What adjustments will he have for game 2?.
