Since were opening this up for them to screw with, do they drop teams due to injury? If a team advances but lost one of their key pitchers, do they get dropped down in the reseed?
No, when I say "reseed" I mean keep the same pre-tournament 1-64 seedlings, but reallocate them to 1-16 in the same order for Super Regional matchups.

I think the word "reseeding" is throwing some people off. I'm not saying Troy didn't earn their spot in a Super Regional. They absolutely did. What they didn't earn as the 13th or 14th best team still alive is the privilege of having the easiest or 2nd easiest path to Omaha at this point. That was luck.

All I'm saying is don't predetermine which regional matches with which regional beforehand. Figure that out after all the Regionals, using the same pre-established 1-64 national seeds (which the committee makes but does not release past 16). This year, it would be St. John's and Little Rock going on the road to Auburn and Georgia in some order, and then on down the list. This seems objectively more fair to everyone and more likely to get the best teams into Omaha, which we all want.

i really don't see how you can refer to these as "Random upsets" when it's a double elimination format.

I think teams like LR and Troy and most definitely Cal-poly got hot at the right time.

And THAT (as they say) IS BASEBALL!

Did Cal Poly get hot, or did they beat a 2 seed and then a 4 seed twice?

The easiest thing to do is seed the hosts correctly from the beginning. There was no reason for certain teams, like USM, to be seeded where they were. And stop with matching up SEC teams in Supers. I get that the ncaa wants teams from other parts of the country to make it but in the end you’re penalizing the schools that have carried the sport for everyone else, and you’re hurting the city of Omaha with poor matchups, schools that won’t travel/buy tickets.

Except that the field isn’t seeded 1-64. Only the 1 seeds are ranked in order. 2 seeds, 3 seeds, and 4 seeds are all considered equal with one another. There is no official S-curve beyond the Top 16 teams. Softball is done the exact same way.

That’s how “regionals” came about. It’s a non-revenue sport. Efforts are made to keep teams fairly close to home to minimize travel expenses.

For example, it’s not an accident or based on seed rankings that UCLA just so happened to get a 3-seed and a 4-seed that were both from California. Or that the only west coast schools to get shipped east had reasons that made it necessary. USC, by rule, could not be sent to UCLA or Oregon. And UCSB could not be sent to Oregon (still a very long trip) without bumping Washington State to a much more distant location, nor could they be sent to UCLA without bumping out Cal Poly who is in their same conference. And they still sent both of those schools to the 2 closest locations that they could.
