I’d much rather those guys throw if we’re up 8-1 and we have 9 outs to get than with the bases loaded, 1 out and 17 outs to get.

The at-bat that just happened may end up being the highest leverage AB in the rest of the game. I want my best available guy on the mound for it.
And what if they keep chipping away and it is not 8-1 with 9 outs? Then you have no one to bring in, which is what happened against Arizona last year.

We need to get some more runs. At least get the two back we just lost. I think after Webb, they don’t have anyone reliable, so we have to get his pitch count up.

GG literally started there last year?
i don't think you can casually suggest moving statistically one of the best defensive 2Bs in the country unless the return is going to be huge, and i just don't know who on the bench is going to play 2B and be significantly better at the plate than nicholson lol

Oh, so last year. Thanks for making my point for me.

We didn’t get here we are by pulling our starters when they have 1.5 bad games at the plate. If we did that, we wouldn’t have anybody in the lineup.
Why does it matter? You’re asking who is able to do it. Why does it matter if he did it last year or this year? The fact is he can do it. Regular season stats are good and all but it’s to the point now you got to find guys that are going to produce. Not saying Coop should be benched forever just saying he needs a reset.

Like I said last week we’re one bad start from DeCaro or Lynch away from being in a really dicey situation. We might get away with it against ECU but routinely having only one or two reliable pen arms and burning them at any early chance just sets you up for struggles in a regional/Omaha format or in a super against a good team.

Maybe it was early, but still I get the point. Scrapping two runs the next inning aren’t the same has scoring with the bases loaded in the 4th. This also is GT.
I mentioned GT for recent reference. Happened vs Arizona in super regional too. There’s a reason to have middle relievers and when you have a 7 run lead, that’s when you throw them. I’d want Walker available later than running someone out there that knows the coach has no faith in.
