Guess this came across my IG algorithm because I watch workout stuff and obviously Miss State stuff. This guy is Cameron Dietz (coachcam10).
If you're into this sort of thing go check out some of the videos. Not calling him out specifically because 80% of these S&C coaches do this trendy stuff. But what are they expecting to get out of these band jumps, light speed lifts, etc.? Some of that is OK, and certainly a good aerobic workout but they'd be better off just doing active baseball drills. They aren't getting stronger dancing around with this stuff and if anything, adding weight to jumps and such wears out joints and promotes injury. And yeah I know college athletes look good but it's because they are elite athletes already. Anything they do is going to make them look good.
Just think this new age data bro functional training is a tremendous detriment to strength potential. It's actually something MSU could exploit if we'd do it right. Need to really be pushing the heavy lifting movement patterns and do all this cardiovascular jumping stuff in actual sport specific practice. I mean this other stuff is a warmup, it's not a workout. And should be done with no weight.
Again I don't want to sound like I'm criticizing only this coach because it's the thing right now. Shaud Williams does it as well. And I appreciate that he posts the content. But I'm spotting very few things these guys are doing that are truly adding, not just simply exhibiting, strength/power.
