I believe they had the highest per capita enlistment rate of any state (not absolute numbers obviously). Iowa troops were a big factor in the thick of it at Shiloh and in other Western theater battles. Fun fact: my great x3 grandfather was an Irish immigrant who settled in Iowa, left several young kids at home to enlist in his thirties, gave the traitors a whatfer in the Vicksburg campaign, then came back home to raise his family and lived to see the 20th century.

Oh contraire, I make logic the basis of my thinking. During my long journey of trying to figure out liberal "thinking" I assumed for a long time that logic has to be the basis of their thinking too. Because if not logic... what?
