The pen is what happens when you get get broken down pitchers no other teams wanted and you try to fix them and hope they work out.

To their credit, the Yanks had been able to find some decent arms from discarded piles of dog **** over the last several years. But that will only work so often. And just like with casino's, the "house" is eventually going to win when you run that strategy too much

Cubs looked like world-beaters a month ago, when they were winning 10 straight.

Now, they've lost 9 in a row and 13 of 15. Go figure.

And therein lies the problem, the Yankees got a few decent ones out of a pile and think they all are going to work out. Meanwhile some good arms are languishing away in the minors.

Hill is the only pitcher in the pen I would want on my team and that would be to face a few left handed batters in key situations. Doval, Bednar, and the rest are not that good. No consistency at all.

I'll be honest...I laughed out loud when they picked up Hill from the White Sox steaming pile of carcasses. And then when he was somewhat effective, I figured it would be a deal where there was something new that batters would pick up on / figure out sooner than later that he was doing.

I was flat out wrong. It's unorthodox and it's slow....but the guy can get some outs night after night.

Hill is a ground ball inducing machine.
I know they say he's not a submarine pitcher....but that's as close as you can get without being one.

Anyway, those submarine arm slots put so much overspin on the ball....just the natural progression of the ball creates ground balls

As I type this the Yankees are up 9-1. Schlittler must be off tonight as the Royals have barreled up so many pitches. I haven't seen a team put wood on Schlittler's pitches like KC has done tonight.

I didn't watch last night's game.

KC is actually the kind of team that should be the kind to give Cam trouble. They are young and ultra aggressive on the fastball. And "aggression" and "fastball" IS Cam. They're gonna square up some heaters from time to time.

Cam admitted after the game that he didn't have his best stuff and couldn't locate. Shows how good he is to shut down those guys for 6 innings without his A game. Announcers kept showing all kinds of graphics on Cam. He is doing stuff no pitcher has ever done. It's crazy what they were showing last night.

So.....you need to stop watching games. lol I was trying to figure out how the Yankees got 24 hits, first time in Yankees history every batter in the lineup had at least 2 hits. So you need to stop watching. That's what it was! lmao

I think David Cone gets on my nerves worse than Ben McDonald. Cone is fine when there are 3 men in the booth, but when it's just him and someone else he really drives me crazy with his constantly, chirping, crazy stuff. Just never shuts up.

I'll serve a "ban" but only until they lose again! Then I'm back on the games LOL

What's the deal with last year's AL playoff teams?

With the exception of the Yanks and Indians, they're all mediocre so far. Seattle, Detroit, Boston, Toronto.

Garrett looked great last night
The Cole Train has come back sharp for sure

10 k's and only 79 pitches to get them through 6 2/3. That is outstanding efficiency

Let Fried rest and get well and get Rodon back on track (I expected him to be much slower in rounding into form) to go with Cam....mmmmmmm, that is some tasty starting pitching.

Rodon with his first solid start

Sure there will be a couple of not as good but he’s starting to round into form

I'm surprised they haven't hit more home runs. Balls fly out of that minor league bandbox.

Weathers was gassed. Boone said he left him in to face lefty against lefty. The result? A 2 run home run. Enough with the damn analytics! And Bird gives up a run in relief. Yanks winning streak ends in a 6-4 loss. And Jazz is the last player I want up with the bases loaded and the game on the line.

Talk about a weird game yesterday! Check this out.

The Yankees scored all 13 of their runs and had all 18 of their hits in the 3rd inning. So the A's basically threw a no hitter for 8 innings and outscored the Yankees 8-0. lol Crazy!

I missed the first inning yesterday (and Grisham's error), picked up the game in the 2nd. Saw the Yanks load the bases with no out in the 3rd, flipped to the UNC game and was about to turn back when I saw a big number on the ticker.

So, I take all the credit. Missed the 1st with Grisham error and going down 3-0. Then watched enough to set the table for the explosion.

I did the same. Wached the UNC game and flipped to the Yankees during commercials. I did not witness the 5 runs the bullpen gave up.

How long are the Yankees going to go with this crap bullpen? They seldom hold a lead and they seldom keep a game close so the Yankees can get back into a game. Doval is a joke.

They have moved Lagrange to the bullpen in AAA so that looks promising even though he is projected as a starter in the future.

Another loss to a team above .500. Inconsistent starting pitching. Weak bullpen. Lackluster closer. Weak hitting. On and on. Rinse and repeat. How about let's run it back!!!!

Austin Wells has the 5th worst batting average in baseball. We are getting no offensive production from catcher, 3B, and SS. Pitiful.

And the one reliever I felt we could depend on, Hill, has given up runs in his last 4 appearances.

So Judge out 4-6 weeks. So this is probably the reason he's been in a HR slump, which means he was probably trying to play through it, in the process making it worse. SMH.

It's always something with the Yankees.

I've been following baseball for over 60 years and was directly involved in baseball many of those years. It has been my opinion for a while now that these players today are too muscular. They work out constantly and to me it leads to more injuries as those muscles get pulled and are over worked or they pull on bones, etc. If you look back just 20 years ago you did not see so many teams with multiple players on the IL. SS and 2B were routinely bowled over and flipped at 2b, catchers were violently run over, players generally popped right back up. Today they pull muscles just sliding. smh Hell, in the old days the payers drank beer all night and played day games, traveled by train, and smoked cigarettes between innings, lol. Not many injuries back then,.

Yankees need to seriously shore up the pitching staff. Good pitching consistently beats good hitting. With Judge out the Yankees can still win with good pitching.

Yup.
Seems like the Yankees lead the league in players getting injured from swinging a bat or running the basepaths.
