The fact that Boaz is our 3rd starter is mind-boggling…..6.68 ERA coming into the game. Everything is up and hittable….

need to try Jackson Rose as the 3rd starter in the Regionals. He’s more consistent

I think we all know Boaz isn’t a great Sunday starter, but moving Caden there could be a mistake. If Jason could routinely go to seven innings, then sure. Caden has had to bail him out too much this year. We need Walker for Ryan. It’s really unfortunate that we don’t have any other arms we can count on.

Dude, before the game started, Boaz’s stats on the year showed what he is. 3-2 6.62 ERA.

This was a worse outing than the last time he faced GT on a Sunday. Saying this was predictable.

Agreed, he’s not good. Our staff would love to start Glauber game 3. They’re not going to sacrifice games 1 and 2 to do it, though.

Not many teams have a third starter they trust.

I would start Rose at this point and hope for the best can he be worse than Boaz 🤷‍♂️

Lefty heavy lineups and Boaz is great. Other than that, he’ll be able to turn the lineup over once. Just have to pick matchups with him next weekend

Our staff would love to start Glauber in game 3. That would mean we won the first two games easily. They’re not going to save him when we need to close out a game to do so, though.

If you start 2-0 in a regional, somebody is throwing their 4th starter and deep bullpen arms by time you play again. At that point you have to win with offense.
But as I’ve said, we don’t have bullpen depth which is mind blowing to me. We throw 4 pitchers. We won’t win a game three in a super regional. Sure we will get through a regional because the comp is much lower, but this is exactly how last year vs Arizona played out.

Where is Jackson, Boston, Skip, Tom, Matty….?

Baker - 1U

Forbes out....McDuffie enters....

Brosius - K dropped third, out at first

Agree, and that’s this issue of all the bullpen depth never being developed all season. Would we have rather taken a couple more L’s to develop the staff(relievers)?

If we get to a game 3 of a Super, it’ll be better if we lose one handily than a close one where we burn good arms.

I’m disappointed that Rose hasn’t become a bigger factor after the Campbell appearance. His midweek starts weren’t as good after that. If you had asked me after that game, I would have thought he’d be our 3rd starter by now.

Boaz can get through an average lineup twice. He got through GT, the best offensive team in the country, once.

Which is why we needed to develop the rest of the bullpen. If we could not win the other games with other arms, we know this is our limit. And that’s my point, many on here have been saying that our ceiling is low based off of only having 4 arms

All of the bullpen arms got chances, nobody did anything consistently. Just giving them innings where they aren’t successful isn’t “developing” them. You can work guys longer to build up endurance but you can’t make them pitch better just by giving them innings. At some point they have to pitch well, and they haven’t.

Only complaint I have had with Forbes is letting Boaz pitch at all. Should have been kicked to the curb a long time ago. I get Glauber has been lights out in the bullpen but he should have taken the 3rd starter role. Really he should be our 2 starter.

Now explain Boaz being what you just described but being given innings

Imagine losing a winners bracket game in the regional because we’re saving Glauber to start game 3. That would be silly.
