Kevin Durant averaged 11 rebounds per game in college and for his NBA career averaged 7. That’s a horrible comparison.

My thought is that if Diallo and Wilkins don’t click and play well then nothing else is going to really matter in regard to having a good team. I think both will be better 3pt. shooters playing together and have the potential to make the offense way less static than last season. And I’m happy with M. Williams as a 3rd string PG. From the video I’ve seen I think he has great shooting touch on both mid-range and distance; and probably would have been ok as the backup PG even as a freshman. However, I don’t feel great about Morton as the only backup 2G option.
But assuming Moreno comes back, I’m most concerned about the PF position – particularly the defense and rebounding out of that spot. I know Momcilovic has played PF, but I’d definitely be concerned about his rebounding and defense there too. Then at SF I think UK may already be in pretty good shape with K. Williams and B. Hawthorne (and if Noah finds some consistency on his 3pt. shot then he’ll be more than fine as a 3rd string SF option).
Nevertheless, Momcilovic is such a gifted shooter that of course anyone would want him - including, I think, JW2. So, I think it’s wrong to create the strawman of “JW2 doesn’t want UK to land Momcilovic” just because he raises a point for discussion. I think the question JW2 raises is a valid one, which is what would the real net + - of Momcilovic be given UK’s current roster, especially if his role results in significantly less minutes for Hawthorne (maybe the guy with the highest upside who’s now had another year to mature physically and practice against college guys). Again, I think everybody will conclude adding Momcilovic is a net positive – maybe even a really big one – but just how much is open to being questioned, I think.

Kevin Durant averaged 5 rebounds a game this year in a 48 minute game. Its exactly the comparison. Kevin Durant is a scorer and nothing else.

Yes there are a lot on this board who have actively wanted us to lose games (to force a coaching change). I agree those are not real fans.
My question of is Momcilovic the best option for us or not, is focused on us having a the best most well rounded team we can have. Again, I’m not saying don’t add him. Just a part of me, maybe 10% maybe 30% of me thinks maybe we would be a better team playing guys who shoot it well (just not as well) but aren’t big liabilities in every other aspect.
Milan wouldn’t even average 3 rebounds in the nba.

What people consistently fail to grasp about the NBA, for a variety of reasons, is that the NBA is looking for ..."and shoot", with a lot of that ... being "play defense in the NBA". But regardless, it's "bring some other form of value and not be a complete non-shooter". It's why NBA teams will often draft the uber-athletic 19 year old freshman who averaged 8 ppg over the 23 year old senior who averaged 20 but lacks some athletic ability. That 19 year has the tools to play defense in the NBA and his shooting and offensive skills can be worked on. The 23 year old will end up being a non-stop target for opposing teams' offenses every time he's in the game.
Momcilovic is an elite enough shooter that he will get a shot, probably late 1st or in the guaranteed contract range in round 2, because teams will hope he can become a taller version of Duncan Robinson, or someone like that. And I certainly want Momcilovic at UK. But he definitely comes with some limitations. If he didn't, UK would have no shot at him because he'd be in the NBA lottery.

So the real question isn’t “Is he a fit?”
It’s “Is it worth paying $6 million for a SEC punching bag?” Does Kentucky have enough talent on the roster to protect him? There is a reason he wants to play for a contender.
Every coach in the SEC is going to circle his name in red ink and say the same thing: “Hit him. Hunt him. Make the rest of the team beat us.”
Every team is going to put him in ball screens, post switches, and isolation until he melts.

I’m a Kentucky fan, I hope Hawthorne wins the MVP next season. But, I also realize that if he was a talented player, we would have seen him last season.

I mean he’s def talented but he was also like 6’8-6’9 and weighed 160 so he didn’t have the frame needed to play one single game in the SEC
I still believe that if Kentucky has to rely on Hawthorne for significant minutes, we are screwed.
been watching a ton of Milan's shooting form all the way from high school through Iowa State and it brings back memories of Larry Bird as far as shooting form the release point from the right shoulder and the accuracy
With or without momcilovic this UK team will/should be a more consistently good offensive team, But they are going to be much worse defensively and in rebounding. Think they is what the pope pumpers are vastly overlooking or just pretending those areas of the game don’t exist. Reality will eventually slap them in the face though but I’m sure they will have their excuses lined up and ready to go.

I don't think he didn't play last year due to a lack of talent. But rather he was simply too weak and thin. Adding muscle is the easiest thing for a player to do. Is he going to look like Patterson next year? No!!! But he may (by next fall) have added enough muscle to not get pushed around like a rag-doll so that he can utilize the skills he has.
