The SEC is now filled with the most scummy coaches in basketball and IDK if Mark Pope is gonna be able to really utilize Kentucky in a way that can fend these type of coaches off. The top button-Mitch, JMI, and stubborn(refusal to hire a GM) Mark Pope, nice guy thing is gonna get hammered.

Why do you call Oates and golden sleazebag? Because they’re winners? That’s why Kentucky sucks because there’s this sleazebag test for every coach and if it weren’t for Mike Pratt, we probably done as a program. Because of that whole sleaze bag garbage did cal turn out to be a sleaze bag? Do you want to win titles or do you want to be known as 3rd rate? Do you think Adolf Rupp was a sleaze bag? I mean we had a team implicated in a major point shaving scandal and one of 5 or 6 programs to ever get the death penalty. We by far the most major of all programs to ever receive the death penalty so my question is, would you put Adolf Rupp on your list of sleaze bag? I’m sure pitino fits and undoubtedly you hate him.

Can’t speak for him but I call Golden a sleazebag because he’s a disgusting sexual predator. People don’t like how Oates handled the whole “play someone involved in a shooting thing” but he did nothing illegal that I’m aware of.

Golden did but UF conveniently investigated it as a Title IX violation and voila, he’s “vindicated”. Funny how he never followed up on that defamation suit he said he was going to bring.

And Adolph Rupp wasn’t the scumbag in the point shaving scandal; the bookies were. He was clueless about it and even bragged beforehand about how his players couldn’t be touched “with a 10 foot pole”. I give Beard and Groza some leeway because they were young and stupid.

Rupp had nothing to do with that and was never even accused of having anything to do with it. Rupp was the ultimate victim of that whole thing and it did not benefit him or UK in any way. CCNY was also a huge player in that period that never recovered from this. Lot's of other high profile schools were also heavily involved but went basically untouched.

How about being a serial predator for Golden, then perhaps add playing a kid 2 weeks after he helped facilitate a murder of a mother of 2. Compound that with same kid simulating shooting guns in pregame introduction and you do nothing, that's Oats.

No issues with Oats. I have major issues with Golden and Beard. There’s a huge difference between being the guy who did something and playing a guy who did something.

Give be me a break. Idk the details of the incident I would need a refresher it was so long ago. Nevertheless a lot of schools would like to have him and if he wins he wins. I don’t recall him being suspended or anything. The thing is we don’t know the details and when they happened. Just nate Oates had a player that killed someone. Dude said he should have left the gun. It’s guilt by association.

Give me nate Oates everyday over pope. I think he wins 2-3 titles here. He was born for the job.

This is an honest question: other than the leaked general allegation, was there ever any actual proof Golden did something wrong?

Title IX investigations are serious. He wasn't even winning bug at the time. Imo if there was anything to the allegations, he would've been toast.

That's why I'm curious what people base that on or if its just hating (which I also support).

You also forgetting about the whole charles bediako situation from last year? When the NCAA literally said "no this guy who left your school for the NBA, can't come back" and nate oats added him to the team, mid-season, and played him anyway. Also, NEVER got punished for it because of the scummy Alabama donor Judge who said the NCAA would not be allowed to punish them lol.

This is the problem because our AD is the same way. We need a ruthless coach and AD for that matter and we have neither. Hopefully we get a new AD that wants to win at all costs...

Your hating the player you should be hating the game. It’s ridiculous to hate someone that knows the modern rules. Not his fault the NCAA castrated themselves. Technically ole Pope is living in grey area as well trying to hire pros from other countries. Do you consider him a dirtbag as well?

The NCAA does have rules, they enforced those rules. They said "this player is ineligible and you are NOT allowed to play them" Nate oats went and got a booster judge to make his own rules "legally" and force them upon the rules that the NCAA already has. There are already set rules, but everyone keeps suing the hell out of the NCAA because they CHOOSE not to play by them. And The NCAA allows foreign players... so no...Pope signing a euro guy who the NCAA clears is not breaking the rules.... The key phrasing here is "The NCAA has cleared/not cleared."

Here’s the original article from the UF student paper that lays out the claims, with some very interesting and specific details:

https://www.alligator.org/article/2...ach-accused-of-sexual-harassment-and-stalking

The official Title IX claim came from someone else who is never named, and from what I read it actually kick started the Taurean Green Title IX investigation (they reference the crazy stuff that was widespread in the AD in the original article).

The university hired an outside firm to investigate the Title IX claim, which means the school couldn’t comment during the entire process. The firm found no evidence of Title IX violations and the university dismissed the charges. Florida started the season 13-0, ironically losing their first game of the season to Mark Pope. When the original article was published they were 2-0 and ranked around 20th.

The way it reads to me is they defined the narrative in a narrow way and “exonerated” him because none of his creepy s hit happened during his official duties as coach.

There’s not a single quote I’ve seen from any ruling or official university statement that says he didn’t actually do the things he was accused of doing. He was just creeping on his own time. And that’s all they looked at—-did it happen while he was serving in his capacity as head coach. It didn’t so they dropped the charges.

Just my opinion, maybe I’m wrong. But I feel pretty good about my overall read that he is a creep of the highest order.

Do you mean people like me? Yeah I think he’s a creep. Great coach, no doubt. I happen to feel there is plenty of reason to think he’s a creep. Feel free to disagree.

But to be clear there’s no lynch mob or threat to our judicial system. Just a thread on a message board.

I agree fully the dudes a creep, I even said he fits the bill. But people saying he’s a predator for assumptions and would not him coaching here because of allegations is a bit far. I personally think it’s likely he wasn’t innocent in all of it but as far as proof goes who knows. I would like to think the University police would have felt obligated to do the right thing, or something, considering the girls had already came forward. They hold a grudge to Beard as well. Personally I have said several times the cops chose not to press charges so there must not have been enough evidence of it, or my guess would be they are both drinkers and I’m sure both had been guilty of wrong doings but I wouldn’t go around character bashing him for my assumptions. It’s the herd mentality here aka lynch mob. Hell they had already found Beard guilty before the cops decided whether to charge him or not.

Title IX stuff is incredibly serious and very slanted towards a female claimant. Florida is the most litigious state in the entire nation.

If there was any actual meat or proof, he'd been toast. Their entire federal funding depends on it. No coach is so big a school will literally risk its entire existence to protect them.

I didn't know if there were more allegations but sounds like not. Sounds like people are just hating, which I'm fine with, but I don't see any validity to the accusation.

The Alligator spoke with two separate women who attested to Golden’s behavior and requested to remain anonymous for safety reasons. Since the investigation began, there was a small amount of action that was taken by UF, both women said.

The first woman, a former UF student, said that Golden stalked her in person, both in his car and on foot, and that this occurred “more than 10 times.” On one occasion, she said she posted her location on her Instagram story, and Golden messaged her shortly after saying that he was in the area “waiting for [her].” She also said Golden sent unsolicited photos of his genitalia to her. On multiple occasions, the first woman said she received the photos while the team was traveling on the road. The nature of Golden’s alleged stalking became more assertive over time, she said.

“At first, it starts off slow, like, ‘Oh, wow. That’s odd. This guy is showing us attention,’” the first woman said. “And then it becomes, ‘Wow, he’s kind of crossing a line. No, he didn’t mean it that way.’ Then it’s, ‘Wait, he’s fully stepping over that line.’ And then it’s, ‘Wow, there’s a picture of his d*ck.’ It was a full grooming process with all of us.”

Both the first woman and the second woman, also a former UF student, corroborated that Golden liked Instagram posts of theirs dating back to 2023, sometimes even older. Additionally, they said he liked multiple posts at once, supposedly in an attempt to get the women’s attention before going back and unliking them to avoid suspicion. “He would go at such lengths about it,” the first woman said. “He would go back, like a year back, and like 10 photos at once. Then, obviously, [he] followed up with a DM, always in vanish mode… Just really aggressive Instagram stalking is the best way to explain that.”

Golden had been in contact with both women for over a year before unfollowing them after they were told UF began looking into his behavior this past August, they said.

According to Snoopreport, a publicly accessible Instagram activity tracking software, Golden unfollowed 118 accounts on the platform between Aug. 1 and Sept. 1. At least 20, if not more, of these accounts appear to have been young women without connection to the Florida basketball program, or any other organizations that Golden had been previously affiliated with. The women separately confirmed that Golden had blocked them rather than unfollowed.

The second woman said Golden told numerous women that they were “his drug” or “his good luck charm” before games.

“He had this manipulation tactic over everyone,” she said. “And he sent us all the same sh*t. It was copy-paste to every girl.”

Like I said, just my opinion. I find it strange that he was verified to have blocked over
100 Instagram accounts in the month before the investigation became public, many being young women not affiliated with the program in any way, but of course that’s not evidence and probably just a coincidence.

Luckily I wasn’t a judge or a reporter or a jury member on his investigation, so my opinion means exactly zero.

So you’re saying any story with anonymous sources, specifically young female who don’t want to get attacked by people online, is categorically false? And the word “media” is instantly discredited?

So unless you experience it firsthand then it doesn’t exist?

Also the detailed info the other poster provided is from the article I linked. You should read it.

Yeah Ill go on record saying I take the word of a police department investigation over a media “anonymous” tip. Use that common sense however you want to and mold it into your assumption of reality.

Use that common sense approach however you want to in order to fit your agenda.

Depends on what type of police. Many are crooked as hell and protect certain people in power.
