So it looks like football ticket sales are, shall we say, lacking?

Selmon should have been able to identify his lack of people skills during the initial interview.
I'd really like to know all the moving parts and details that went into hiring Lebby. If there was anymore to it than he was the last interested candidate, the football situation is just as much on Selmon. Because from day one, Lebby didn't have the it factor to be a sec HC.

I stated this in a previous post. After 30 plus years as a season ticket holder not renewing this year because of the cost of tickets, bulldog club fee ($500), parking fee and lack of a quality program. I can pick the games I wanna see and save a good amount. Did t even mention the concessions prices which are outrageous. Add in the Iran war 🙄 and gas prices it’s just not worth it.
Shelling out $600 to stay at a crappy hotel is what keeps me away. I'm too far away to not need a hotel. If I bought season tickets, I'm in for $4,200 in hotel costs right off the bat. Just not worth it to me. I make a game a year most years, that's about the best I'll do at this point.

Agree, Lebby has ZERO PR skills. Selmon really should send him to a training somewhere to help him.

Selmon should have been able to identify his lack of people skills during the initial interview.
I could not disagree more with these takes. No one and I mean no one will give two ***** about his personality if he wins. See Bellichick and Saban. It’s about nothing other than wins and losses.
You are hiring a guy to win, that’s it. I don’t need a used car salesman making me smile while getting screwed.

“Win”, all else does not matter!

So ya'll don't be blaming faculty when the stadium gets taken over, in all sections, this year. With this many available, they will find their way into the opposing fans hands

Ole Miss is literally having to kick out existing season ticket holders, let that sink in

Combination of a lot of things. No optimism with the program but also every game is televised in high def, Starkville is remote for a lot of fans and alumni to get to, college football is now played by a bunch of overpaid mercenaries, prices for tickets/hotels/concessions/gas all just keeps going up, up and up, and so on and so on. Going to college games just doesn't have the same attraction it did 10+ years ago. Yes, TV viewership is up but I bet game attendance is down somewhat everywhere but especially for schools that are having trouble competing in this new pay for play environment.
@olblue say, this is great. Just sit yo fat asss on the couch and enjoy it

I love going but the reality is that it’s hard to get people to go with me. I have to really try hard to get all of our tickets used.
This would be my experience. Ten years ago, we had a nice little group of around 10 to 15 people counting wives and kids that were buying season tickets. Now it is just me, and even Mrs. Devil would not go to games last year. I got in the truck to come to the UGA and Texas games alone. I spent all week trying to give away Scoreboard club seats hoping someone might come with me. The Devil gets lonely y'all, and nothing.

I know I’m stating the incredibly obvious, but to say that the current system is broken would be the understatement of the century. Everyday fans are being asked to spend thousands of dollars to stay in crappy hotels and sit on metal bleachers to watch a team that is being paid millions of dollars get their asses beaten on a regular basis. It’s a wonder that this plan isn’t working

Right. We did a “national search” and the best possible candidate just happened to be a mediocre career assistant at the school the AD came from. **
You'd be surprised at the coaches who declined to even speak to us about the job. Until we pay real money for a real coach, not some retread, assistant, or Midmajor guy, we will continue to flounder.

"Real Money" guarantees nothing:

-Dabo made $11.2 Million last year and went 7-6, 4th highest paid in the country.
-Brian Kelly made $10.1 Million last season and got fired before October was over and was 8th highest paid.
-Bill Belichick made $10.1 Million last season and went 4-8 and was 9th highest paid.
-Deion Sanders made $9 Million last season and went 3-9 and was 14th highest paid.

I’m gonna unpack this for you and others once again just to get it on record again
I don’t think most of you all understand how toxic a situation our job was. We had a depleted roster due to the former coaches lack of recruiting and talent evaluation. One coach who ran a specific type of offense dies and the replacement was fired before his first year was over. The transition from AR to modern offense was going to be a challenge and most coaches while interested they were also hesitant about the job due the roster turnover that needs to happen but we had so little in NIL it was going to be a total rebuild with zero funds. Sure Sumrall would have been a great hire but wanted a zero buyout if the UK job opened up due to our lack of funding. He knew that rebuilding was neeeing funding something that up until recently we weren’t commited too. Cig already said he wanted a Big10 job. Fritz wanted to be close to his family in Houston. Chadwell told us no due to our lack of NIL at the time. So we pivoted to assist coaches. We wanted offense we wanted exciting young guy who could also develop QBs. So we pivoted to Lebby whose OU offense was 4th in the country EOY2023. We were able to scrape up a little NIL to get a few players but not enough to be competitive. So no Lebby wasn’t the average or mediocre assistant that you Pat make him out to be. Another note due to our lack of NIL it also affected our first coaching staff and hires as well.
Fast forward to Dec 24.. we were able to get a few more players our nil was better we had at least gotten to the table on getting players. We looked improved in 25, started out 4-0, should have beaten TN FL (Still say the FG was good), and Texas. Toward the end if the year the depth just caught up with us.
Now this year, we have increased our NIl our talent level is much better much better our coaching staff is better. Lebby has to win this year and it needs to be 7 or we move on. But I wanted to add context to the argument that most missed

We've been saying it's not working yet in continues to work. I remember some Ole Miss fan said sports was the most recession proof thing there is, back during the 2008 bust. And he was right.

Although, to be honest, you're giving the fans who attend games too much credit. They are just helping hold this up. It's being bankrolled by TV money and rich guys. Don't forget that.

Most of that shlt ain't true but I'll just clue in on the bolded part. This is the problem. We wanted to recreate Kiffin, but we got the guy with no coaching experience instead.

Our modern day successful coaches are Jackie, Danny Boy and Pirate. 2 of them are older, proven guys and the other had been with one of the best in the game for 8 years, but was a very hard-nosed mother 17er who didn't talk about Showtime and had a defined plan right out the gate, for the whole program, not just the QB and WRs.

We'd have been better off with Rich Rod than Lenny.

We hired Lebby the Monday after the Egg Bowl. It's not like we did some exhaustive search here. Selmon hired the man he wanted.

Salmon fully expected for Lenny to show a little offensive firepower in 2024, and before 2025 ever even got here he'd be off to his next job. My oh my how that backfired.

If you don’t think it true which it was all true. Please tell me. How was out NIL? What was our roster like? Who were our candidates? You don’t know **** goat. What I laid out for you was 100% factual. Just cause you don’t want to believe doesn’t make it any more true

If by working, you mean that it still exists with a lot of people are taking part in it, then sure... I guess it's working kinda like taxation and healthcare continue to work.

My question, though, is who is it working for? I'll go ahead and answer. TV execs, coaches, a portion of the players, and the rich guys that you mentioned. For the other 98% of the population that's mostly made of the the fans, there is nothing about this that is working. There are just some that choose to grin and bear it

For programs that achieve a modicum of success it provides some enjoyment and entertainment to the fans. If you are god awful it’s like paying a large fee to get kicked in the nuts. just bad all the way around.
