Even with Momcilovic UK won't finish inside SEC top 5-6 and will likely have a record of 19-12 or 20-11.I'm going to wait and see for myself before I buy any Zoom or Franck hype from UK media. I saw they went 16-17 overall last year.....

Yeah, I'm not sure I follow the logic of the fans who think that a guy the NBA wouldn't draft this year (otherwise, why would he come to UK) is going to be the difference maker. He seems like he'd be a solid addition, but he isn't going to come in here and turn this into an SEC contending roster. Some of our fans are just delusional.
Maybe this roster will be greater than the sun of its parts, but this is Kentucky. That isn't how we should be operating. Fans are trying to convince themselves that this Oakland A's moneyball diamond in the rough approach is going to work out.....

Completely agree. I think without Momcilovic, we are still right at 5th/6th in the SEC. But he is definitely the missing piece and an addition of that caliber is more of an exponential add on the roster. He does something no one else does. As we added more players last year, the additions had more of a diminishing returns to them.
We have some many trolls here though posing as fans it is hard to tell.
Besides that, anyone calling Zoom terrible is simply stirring the pot because they onow that is not true. He may not be all SEC (remains to be seen) but he is far better that Lamont Butler & he worked out well.

Also, the Dodgers went over 30 years without a World Series before buying them recently. (although I give them the 2020 WS) We should definitely try spending more than everyone, then we will we win it all.

IF Zoom is better than Butler, we have ourselves a star PG. I doubt he is, but that would be awesome.

He is taller, more athletic, & better offensively in every way than Butler. He is not the defender that Butler was, which was Butler's greatest strength when healthy.

“Before UK”, Butler was the starting point guard on an SDSU team that he guided to the national championship game, despite having no NBA draft picks on the roster. Before UK, Diallo was the point for a team with a losing record despite having a stud NBA lottery pick big man in his supporting cast.
Before UK, Butler had attained a reputation as perhaps the best on ball defensive guard …and one of the best leaders …in the entire country. Nobody, to my knowledge, has ever said such things about Diallo.
I haven’t seen enough of Diallo yet to know for sure. But if I had to choose between those two based upon what I know right now, I’m taking Butler …in a heartbeat.
Zoom is the 6th ranked PG in the portal (according to ON3) the others ranked ahead of him are Shelstead (who there is an entire thread dedicated to Zoom vs him), Dedan Thomas (who many did not want due to injury history), and Markus Burnton (a 5’10 PG from ND that also had a season ending injury last season). I think we did just fine portal wise at the PG spot.
Yankees are still one of the favorites every year. When was the last time UK was a favorite?
I stand by my statement. If he is the baller Butler proved to be, we will really enjoy him.
It's an indictment of the roster overall. Zoom with Stokes, a 4 like Freeman, a shooter like Momcilovic, and the rest of the cast we have now, is a good team and there aren't issues w/ him.
When you don't have any of that, a guy like Rob Wright and a few top HS guys (Holt, Collins, Crowe, Rippey, Kinney -- all guys we missed on) are needed for an acceptable blueblood roster.
This is UK basketball, not the make-a-wish foundation where mediocre and/or washed up players live their dream getting paid millions.
