And every time Boone goes to the mound to change pitchers he should turn around at the first base line and go back to the dugout. Twice he changed pitchers who promptly gave up home runs.

Why can't we win extra inning games on the road? Pitiful.

This team is full of holes. 2 catchers and a 3rd baseman who couldn't hit their way out from under a wet kleenex. Volpe already swinging from his heels. Grisham a shell of his self from last year. Jones not ready for the majors. Rice and Judge seem to be the only batters who present danger as Bellinger is struggling big time.

Can't believe Boone didn't walk the bases loaded in the 10th to set up a force at home instead employing that 5 man Mickey Mouse infield where Volpe and an outfielder colliding behind the mound on a weak ground ball gave the Mets the win. George is spinning in his grave. He wouldn't tolerate this crap. Time for the NY press to start calling out players and Boone.

And Hal grow a pair and fire Boone and Cashman. We've gone far too long without a title by thinking you can win with subpar managing and weak players.

I KNEW Grisham was a one year wonder. Wells is as close to an automatic out as the come, and McMahon is right behind him. We need Caballero back ASAP, and must go out and try to find someone who can get outs for the pen.

The bullpen....the bullpen.....the bullpen. AWFUL. Bullpen has caused at least 2/3rds of the Yank's losses on the season.

Sad isn't it? And there is no excuse for it. Cashman can't make deals like he used to with Hal holding the purse strings.

O'Neill and Cone were talking about George (and they still call him Mr. Steinbrenner) during the game yesterday, how he would be in the clubhouse during games watching the game on the TV and raising hell because he cared, that he wanted to win every game. This "run it back" **** from Cashman and Hal is a joke. Yankees fans deserve better.

They showed a graphic last night where Bednar's ERA is close to 9.00 over his last 8 appearances. Wow. Hope he settles inn but that is bad. Cruz is fine if he starts an inning. That's how he should be used.

Man, you could just see Bednar fighting every single pitch searching for something he could rely on.

He got through it but it was tough to watch. The 3 straight splitters to Springer from 3-0 to a K was something.

I also LOVED how after each of the splitters Springer gave the "yeah, you got me with that one but it won't work again" head nod.

I can't believe he swung at all three of those.

I'll say this....the Yanks showed some real grit last night. Warren gave up the 3 spot (nothing really hit that hard honestly) and they fight for the couple of walks in the bottom half of the inning when Cease had been on cruise control and McMahon comes up absolutely sitting on that first pitch.

Not even going to waste my breath talking bullpen. Just wanted to highlight a TEAM that was really grinding last night.

Bullpen is a $hitshow for sure but I am equally as dismayed by the number of strikeouts.

I have already lost count of how many times we have struck out with guys on third with less than two outs and failed to bring them in. Shorten up and put the ball in play.

I kind of like what I'm seeing from Volpe. His defense is not as good as Cab. Period. End of story there. But it seems like the Yanks have had some real CTJ discussions with Volpe in the batter's box. Only saw him swing from his heels once last night (that I remember). Seems to really be trying to just put the ball in play and/or take walks to get on base. With his speed, that is exactly what he should be doing.

That out call on the steal of 2nd was terrible and the review "stands" was even worse. I'm glad that Boonie got run later giving the 2nd base ump the business.

I know I keep harping on this but we have got to get some middle innings lock down relievers. Yankees lost 2-1. Bird allowed 2 inherited runners to score. Boone has also got to figure out his best choices for middle innings relief and stop using his metrics and pitches previously thrown.

And how many times over the past few years have the Yankees been completely dominated by a young pitcher they have never faced? It's crazy.

Yankees have the 4th best record in baseball and yet they are 4 games behind the Rays. The Rays have a good organization he way they build teams from nothing.

I think the graphic I saw during last nights game said over the last 25 games the Rays are 21-4 and the Yankees are 15-10. That is great stretch for them for sure.

That's not a great stretch....21-4 is ridiculous. You have to be good, but you have to have a lot of luck for a blistering stretch like that as well

The Rays will fall back to Earth

I want to win every game but losses happen. What pisses me off is that the Yanks have played .600 baseball and have 20 losses....and half or more of those losses are games pissed away by the pen.

And yes, the pen is going to have a bad night every now and then. It happens.

But the Yanks should have at least five more wins right now even accounting for the "it happens" rule.

They may fall back to earth but they are a well put together team. I don't see them fading but no way they can keep that pace up. It will be a three team race between the Yankees and Rays and Blue Jays. Both of those teams have had our number for years now. I'm not real optimistic with this crappy bullpen we have. Boone has to let the starters get some stamina to go past 5 innings and stop pulling them out. No reason they can't throw 120 pitches. Use your eyes Boone!
