The fact that the other members of the telecast disagreed with Shaq actually further proves my point and makes you look even more silly. The others said Cheryl Miller, Maya Moore, Diana Taurasi. They all had other opinions on who might be the best ever women's college BB player.

Guess what they didn't say? They didn't say there's no greatest collegiate women's BB player ever. Which is what you're trying to say.

So thanks for proving my point. Lol.
Wrong. The exact opposite actually.

They threw many names around. Did not take a stand on, or make a case for any of them.

And even if they did, it still would only support my opinion that there is no clear college GOAT.

You think you're clever, but are really not very good at this

I think you are taking this to to an obsurd level.. you seem to be taking it personal...relax
I''ve only taken it to the level of having to respond to idiocy.

But absolutely, I take certain fan behavior (such as the goat crowing craze) personal.

Kids/fans think it's cool to label this thread as the GOAT of all Monday night threads. But the acronym is meant for the most selective of assignment. Its overusage is completely disrespectful

Except for when you said exactly that.

“Has there every been anyone referred to as the "college GOAT" 🤣in any sport? Of course not. Because there is no "C" in GOAT.”
AGAIN, meaning THE ACRONYM.

Meaning, "college", was not to be taken as implied, when people used the acronym for CC.

The only thing that's implied when the acronym, "GOAT", gets used, is that it's not specifically referring to one's college career.

This has been explained like 3 or 4 times

Dave's not the only one to do this, but I really don't understand why people make mountains out of molehills with this sh**.

The reason Caitlin gets left off these promos and all the other stuff where she's allegedly "shunned" by the league is their attempt (whether it's by CC's own prerogative or even just Cathy Englebert being a bitter Karen b*tch) to give the spotlight to other players and not just make it about CC.

And people like Portnoy jump at the chance to make clickbait out of it from the CC defender side by saying "see, SEE, they're trying to hold Caitlin back and downplay her accomplishments etc etc etc etc.........etc etc."

It truthfully does not do the harm people think it does, even if it is, in fact, coming from a place of spite (in the hypothetical chance that this IS the league/Fever being petty and not wanting to promote Clark).

This does nothing to negatively affect her popularity.

Nothing.........

"Yeah, but-"

Nothing...........

"Okay, but just hear me ou-"

No, you're just telling us what you thought it meant (aka your opinion). That's not the same thing as what everyone else was talking about.

BTW, remember when you didn't think that Sam LaPorta would even get to 5 catches in his NFL career? Good call on that one, buddy. You're never living that one down......🙂
My opinion of what an acronym means? Just stop.

And you have the wrong guy with the LaPorta thing. Really, not one of your better days. But that's ok. Get some rest

Yes, you don't know what an acronym means. Sorry this wasn't your best day understanding what we were talking about. Maybe go to sleep and try again in the morning. Someone your age shouldn't be up so late getting his blood pressure up about fans praising Caitlin Clark.
Just stop.
You first.

And you have the wrong guy with the LaPorta thing.
Nah, we all know what you said about LaPorta in the NFL.

So, they chose a bench player who averages 1 point per game to promote the game....

That was a great decision?

The level of petty is middle school and it would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.
I'm guessing CC couldn't care less.

What are you even talking about?

Understanding what you guys were talking about? Again, you were the one who, without solicitation, brought my name into this thread on some B.S. At that point, it became about what I'm saying, and correcting your mischaracterization.

And you continue to mischaracterize. Blood pressure up about praise for CC? Again, what are you even talking about? Read better.

Look man, I tried to be cool about it, and chalk it up to a bad day for you. They happen. But you have the wrong guy about LaPorta, and I've already told you as much. Get a life

Of course they hold a grudge. That's the whole point.

As a junior in college, people were calling CC the GOAT. You don't think professional athletes are going to take offense to that?

I told people at the time, that the goat crowing craze is completely disrespectful. And in CC's case, it was going to make things unnecessarily hard for her
I'm told MJ got the same treatment.. she's marketing gold, no doubt there is resentment but you come off like a Don Quixote here or .Sheryl Swoopes.... let it go

1. I'm not in marketing. And doubt you are either. But it would be my guess that's it's smart for the WNBA to market several players while it has the gust of CC at its back.

2. Why do you care?

3. All this crap only detracts from CC's greatness. The cult coddling, whining, overrating, conspiracy theorists. Every game CC ever lost at Iowa was somehow the refs fault.

Just enjoy watching her play. And allow her greatness to work through the ups and downs. She not going dominate the game in the way that many of you have in your head. She is going to have a great career

Yes, probably something similar for MJ.

Not trying to sound like anyone. Just told people years ago this is exactly what would happen, if they didn't back off the GOAT crap. It's happened just as I warned. And people are still trying to argue with me about it. So you can imagine the level of frustration.

But no, I will not stop calling out bad fan behavior. It's bad for sports, a bad example for kids, and in the case of Iowa athletics, it doesn't give the team its best chance of winning.

GOAT crowning was never cool. It has always been massively disrespectful. And in the case of CC, it brought on the exact unnecessary hurdles that I said it would.

No need for me to let it go now, when I said it correctly all along.

Be better fans, people

Not saying it was, but ultimately, what does it matter?

Who is hurt by this, aside from those that believe they're only hurting themselves as far as marketing goes?

Let them bury themselves if that's what they really want. We can't stop them from doing it.............. 🤷‍♂️

I'm pretty much with you. Taking offense at every perceived little slight of Caitlin is tiresome and comes off pretty petty.

If I were of a mind to complain about it I think I would want to know first how are other team's games being promoted. Is it only via star power or do they also occasionally feature a rookie or lesser known player?

I think it's quite possible the latter is true, but if not ... still not a huge deal.

Dave is an *******. The fact that he has money and a platform is to society’s detriment.

Raven was Indy’s first round draft pick. There’s nothing at all wrong with promoting your first round draft pick. Not everything has to be about CC.
