Matt Rhule was the best available hire at the time

Yes, our program has cratered since the extension and the USC game. I still think the baseline was set at Scoot Frost and Mike Reilly levels of success, lest the media and nation think we deserve more than six wins a year. It was hard to create momentum against Rhule when Scott could barely win 3 a year. This is why we see graphics like "first bowl game in 10 years", back to back bowls for the first time in 10 years. Some people know it is b.s but it is hard to fire a guy that has done something that the previous two coaches couldn't do.
Thats fine and all, but the fact he barely got to 6 wins two years ago and got by with 7 wins this past year while repeating records should tell you that Rhule has reached his capacity for success. What may have worked during his times at Temple and Baylor now no longer does. The podcast and stuff was fine until the on-field success regressed horrifically.

Its hard because our incompetent Regent board and Dannen make it so with the extension. Its gonna be even harder with this Chuck-E-Cheese mascot we have as a HC because all he wants to do is sell and not produce.

GMAFB. Everyone wanted the prodigal son to return to Nebraska. No other hire would have satisfied anyone. Fans, administration, legacy players/coaches, etc. Also, he wasn't lower division. He was coaching an FBS team at the time. Now a team in the Big XII.

As to dingle's post, I am in full support of hiring a proven winner from a lower division. It's time we give up on the hope that a retread is going to save Nebraska football.
Not everyone. I hated the hire because I’ve always thought SF was a colassal douche. But I understand why he got the job.

Very normal behavior!

What's next on your list of comparisons? Margot Robbie should have to cook and clean because your fat wife does?

Many of us- myself included thought Frost could make a go of it here. Was never in on Mr Rodger’s. Interestingly enough there were a few who knew Scott like- Damon Benning who were not enthusiastic about the hire. In the long run character will reveal itself and it did. You had it right. Real shame rest of us didnt.

I've been able to talk myself into being all in on every single head coaching hire we've made in my lifetime. And people just think I'm always negative. I'm not. I support wholeheartedly until they give me enough reason not to.

That siad, Idoubt that continues (outside of a huge proven splash hire) after Rhule gets sh*t canned though. My skepticism has grown and my leash has shrunk with each of them.

What I disliked about the Rhule hire at the time was this weird idea that NU needed a "program builder"

NU needs a ******* badass coach that wants to win games.

I just feel like Trev really thought that they could hire a dude that would win 7 games in a bad year...and 9 games in a good year and that s fans would eat it up.

ADs usually have a little black book of coaches.

Knowing what we know about Trev Albert's now, I don't think he was using any of those names, he was looking for a placating hire while he tossed his name in the hat at other jobs.

@king_kong__ was right at the time when he pounded the table for Mickey Joseph. And no I don't care he got into an aggressive disagreement with his cheating wife

At first I thought you were pretending to be a moron, but no. You are an actual moron.

Bringing up Saban (not the same as turning the topic into Saban) had to do with his level of "love" for Alabama based on the his pay acceptance from Alabama. No different than questioning Rhule's level of "love" for Nebraska based on the exact same metric.

Had nothing to do with W/L record because dave wasnt talking about anyone's W/L record therefore W/L record wasnt the metric that was being discussed.

Of course, a simpleton pedo like yourself couldn't follow along with the most basic of conversation.

..when i found out he didn't want the job and he said no, and then good ole trev threw a few 10mil more his way to change his mind, i knew this would fail. On some level, to be a badass coach that can win big games, you have to want to do it. Money cannot be the only reason you take a bigtime head coaching job. Gotta want to compete, and hate losing at the same time, and want to put your foot on an opponenrs neck, Rhule has none of those qualities.

Mmm. I think we do need a program builder. We’ve underperformed for 2 decades. We can’t buy the players Michigan and Ohio State can buy. Cig is the ultimate program builder. Gimme some of that.

Incredible that it has to be broken down for you (again).

Dave claimed underperforming Rhule should donate part of his salary to prove he actually loves Nebraska.

Your rebuttal was Saban never donated part of his salary, does that mean he didn't love Alabama?

Anyone with a lukewarm IQ could point out Saban showed his love for Alabama by filling their trophy case, therefore making it a very stupid point on your part

Your history of bringing up and defending kiddie porn makes it obvious to everyone you're telling on yourself.
That's why child pornography is getting brought up.
a photo of kids just playing in the underwear being silly
I'm not saying he should be labeled a sex offender either and probably not kicked off the team either or even suspended
Speech meets & band trips were the best in HS! Not sure I would go as far as soft core porn (at least not in my experience), but I know what you're saying.

Bonus where you revealed that you've familiarized yourself with the law for when you inevitably get caught:

You cannot hold video or photos of someone who is a minor or a minor at the time of the video.
He's not in trouble for receiving it. He's in trouble for keeping it as an adult.

2) find a ledge and step off, you disgusting fat fucck

I wonder how Rhule would do with a stacked roster. If we got NIL to osu or oregon levels, could he compete?
He’s not an X and O strategy guy. Doesn’t coordinate either side of the ball. Doesn’t do well with game management (timeouts, when to kick vs punt vs go for it, etc). Failed to set an identity in his first 3 years. Forced to fire or demote half his coaching choices. Hasn’t had anyone drafted that he brought to NU. Has never beaten a ranked P4 or P5 team.

With a 5 star QB and a weak schedule, Rhule couldn’t do better than 12th and 10th place in the last two B1G seasons. I think OSU/Oregon level of NIL might enable a Rhule-led team to compete for 6th-8th place. I don’t think he could get us into a 24 team CFP even with a huge NIL bag.

We don’t have that. To build a program, you have to build a coaching staff. Rhule has to fire, demote or alienate half his staff every other year on average.

Let’s hope he’s got the right staff now. IF y’all were right about Donovan, the O line should be much better. I’m not saying you were wrong about Donnie. I’ve said multiple times that I’m not qualified to judge O line coaching. Coaching doesn’t always equate to results.

I have to believe replacing our DC will help. Our defense often looked lost out there.

When Geep has managed to stifle his laughter, he’s been using the spring to get the OL group to forget literally everything fatass nepo Donnie “taught”

Donnie will never run another OL room again. Hell, he may never even do another coffee run in a football organization

Just too bad there are so many softies above Geep who will keep us playing like pussies (Dana, Rhule)

Absolutely AMAZING that some STILL can’t see that Rhule is just a $hitty coach, always has been, and will NEVER win here or anywhere else. He literally doesn’t do anything good except talk and even that is fake as hell lol

Maybe a bit harsh? But yeah, if is not a details guy, and struggles to build a quality staff. the upside is limited.

What kind of man blames his wife for the decisions he makes? The fact the thought even crossed his mind, let alone was said it in front of millions of people is very illuminating.

Re-read it again you pedo dipshit.

Dave said nothing about Rhule underperforming. He even said that if Rhule "donated 4 million of his 8 million salary contingent on another 15 million to be raised towards NIL" he'd be seen as a "hero".

Once again, you fail to understand the topic at hand, you falsely put people on blast when you're the one who has failed to comprehend what's being discussed (you add or make up things that havent been said), and you look like a complete fool in the process.

You're getting pretty defensive here and reaching pretty hard. You know you're busted so you're trying to deflect.

You'll get caught eventually you pedo POS.
