Do they not give other players assists for the same play? That's the question. Everyone knows the way they record assists is weird. They have also given her assists when she shouldn't have gotten one...like on Hull's 3 near the end of OT.

The Fever are one of the worst defensive teams I’ve seen at a professional level and they really appear to be in piss poor shape.
What's your rationale that Clark doesn't deserve an assist on that play? Because Hull had to wait half a second for Citron to flash by before putting up the shot? Hull caught Clark's pass, set her feet, and shot without dribbling. That seems like a perfectly valid assist to me.They have also given her assists when she shouldn't have gotten one...like on Hull's 3 near the end of OT.
He ALWAYS weighs in against anything to do with her because of her "over exposure" I guess. I get that many people are sick of all the attention she gets, (its a bit much even for her fans), but that not really her fault. Media rides the hot hand, and that's her right now. Its not something that should be held against her. What's your rationale that Clark doesn't deserve an assist on that play? The frustrating part about that play is that there was a stoppage just prior to it for Cunningham to shoot free throws. So the Fever had an opportunity to get exactly the personnel they wanted on the court for the final play of the quarter. They subbed in Raven for Ty Harris and then this nonsense happened.![]()
How can this happen? Is Mitchell trying to defend Amoore from making a basket on either end? From here all Amoore had to do is make a casual spin and was virtually straight line to the bucket.
Edit to add: if, given the time on the clock, they were trying to set up a trap that then was piss-poor too as Timpson never went past the three-point line. Awful defense.

And yet if the player who receives the pass dribbles once or twice they still credit with an assist. I didn't really understand that one either, and yet thats how they score it. A pass that leads to a score (even if the player dribbles once or twice) still counts as an assist.1) Was Hull open when she got the ball? - No
2) Did Hull have to make a move to get open? - Yes, the ball fake is what got her open. Therefore, not an assist.
Now, I have always felt that as long as the receiving player did not move/put the ball on the floor, etc, an assist should be awarded, but the guidelines state differently.
The crazier situation is this: Clark passes to Billings who is 21 feet from the hoop, thinking she will pass it back (or to another player) Billings is wide open because she rarely shoots from there...so she shoots it as soon as she gets it. CC is not supposed to get an assist in that situation because she was not looking for the receiver to shoot, but was just passing to penetrate/move the defense. How in the hell is the person doing the stats supposed to judge intent there??
On the 2 passes the other night:
If I had to guess the assist from under the hoop to the corner was not given because the ball was tipped/deflected, but that only applies if the tip/deflection caused the ball to go to an unintended player. Since the ball still went to the player CC was trying to pass it to, an assist should have been granted.
The non-assist on the flip to KM as she trailed behind her is baffling, and there really isn't a good reason that I can think of where CC should not have been given an assist on that play.
I kept stats for teams for years and never once did I determine intent for an assist. If player A makes a pass to player B and they score as a result of that pass, it’s an assist. What if the ball handler intends to pass to one player but the defense switches and at the last minute they pass to another person who scores? Are you saying that’s not an assist? I also never gave a turnover to the person passing the ball when the recipient of the pass drops the ball. There is such a thing as common sense when keeping stats.1) Was Hull open when she got the ball? - No

You might want to double check your definition of an assist before you say someone else is bad at something. The definition says “a pass to a teammate that directly leads to a made basket.” Don’t see intent listed in there.Thank you for admitting that you were not very good at keeping stats...most people aren't willing to do that.
Looks like the Storm has too much size…the Fever don’t play well against teams with size.Without Boston the Fever have to play in transition, force the tempo, and try to neutralize the rebounding. Maybe trap the post at times. But basically just need to get a lot of shot attempts and hope CC/KM get/stay hot.

There was no ball fake, mostly because she didn't need to. Citron was racing to catch up to her and Lexie simply held the ball near her waist and set her feet as Citron ran past her, then proceeded to shoot the ball.1) Was Hull open when she got the ball? - No
2) Did Hull have to make a move to get open? - Yes, the ball fake is what got her open. Therefore, not an assist.
True…I wasn’t aware of that.Dominique Malonga (sp?) is also out. That should help the Fever out.
"You are shaming yourself" he says without an ounce of self awareness..smhYou’re shaming yourself. You can’t shoot 28 times in a game… and make 10. It’s awful on a multitude of counts. Focus on what CC can control. It wasn’t good.
Ok Dad..Stop. She missed 18 shots in a one possession game. It’s untenable.
No one can rationally justify this performance. True she hit big shots in 4th quarter. But the hole had been dug.
No she had no help. But she missed wide open 3/s and took ugly 2s and was blocked at the rim all night.
Expect better.
Easy. Play well. Acknowledge. Don’t okay well and acknowledge. Or be a dimwitted homer. Simple.Yikes! CC.
