First, when you start something with "honestly," you know everything that comes after it isn't the truth.
Second, it was blown up into something it wasn't. It's not excusable. Child abuse ... sexual abuse .. unforgivable. But the parties to it that were monsters were an extremely small amount of people. The rest ... which also weren't that many ... were more negligent/or even acting based on a misunderstanding. Sandusky's evil. He's paying for what he did. There are far worse actual coverups and institutional misdeeds before and since that haven't received nearly the same dramatization and distortion. I'm not a JoePa apologist/worshipper, but I'm also not going to blow it up into something more than it was for the sake of drama.
Penn State, as an educational institution ... Penn State, as a set of athletic programs ... is far more than that one set of transgressions.
It's hard to explain, because in the PSU realm, I'm viewed as someone who is much harder on the staff and administration than many others. But, to outside folks, who just absorbed and reveled in the dramatization of it all, they may view me as an apologist, which isn't close to the truth.
And, no, I'm not anywhere close to MAGA.
