I would have said a bit lucky. I thought you might be implying we got help from the officials. Those are two very different things. I keep mentioning Auburn because we got robbed. Hitting a buzzer beater is fair getting a crooked call is not.
Also if I remember correctly...the Auburn game wasn't a for sure win if that call happens it didn't happen. There was still time left. I can't remember the situation but I do remember the board debating the game with some saying what you're saying and then others saying it wasn't a for sure win either way like if that call doesn't happen we would have won no matter what and that's not true when there's time on the clock for the other team to score
I have not and never will let the '97 Arizona game go for example or 2017 UNC as another obvious example. We got cheated. The fact that it won't change will never keep me from pointing it out.

But comparing championship caliber teams to a 9th seed sec tournament team is way different. Even tho I just mentioned championships..I was just saying bad refs are part of the game. But those games against Arizona and UNC are wayyyy wayy different than tip toes Chandler and Pope whiffing against Auburn who was the worst team in the SEC. I think I'm not sure about that. I remember that being their first conference win or something
Fair is fair and cheating is cheating. It is all relative. One cost us a title, one cost us a final four, and one cost us finishing tied for fourth instead of a tie for seventh that many now insist on calling 9th. Auburn was on a losing streak but it was not their first conference win it was their 6th. Auburn was not actually the worst in the SEC either they were tied for 11th with Oklahoma. MSU, Ole Miss, USC, and LSU finished behind them.

Once Pope was hired, he was getting 3 years, unless he was so bad, he had to he fired (BCG). But his first year performance solidified a 3rd year.
No coach gets fired after 2 seasons, not even at UK, duke, or uNC. Doesn't happen and Pope deserves a 3rd year. I accepted that a long time ago, doesn't look like you guys have.

Look how many times we lost that way, but we never take away from the team that beat us. LSU got a putback dunk on us in Rupp several years ago to win. It was goaltending, but they were awarded the win. We blamed Cal for letting it hapoen and we blamed the refs, never said LSU didn’t earn it.
We lost the Auburn game. Total bs call, but again, it was a road game in league play and Auburn had to have it.
My issue with Pope is, how do you win @ Arkansas, then lose @ Auburn?
How do you beat duke, then get stomped by Ohio State?
How do you sweep UT, but lose at home to UGA and Missouri?
How do you go to Gonzaga and win, then lose at UGA?

And 9th or 7th place in the SEC is unacceptable. You are the one attempting to hold the extreme position. Solid post except for the part about Barnhardt not getting any heat. There is a full army of Barnhardt haters here that have made their feelings well known. He may not be getting as much attention recently since he is effectively done and out.

Yes back when I was getting banned and acting a fool on purpose. The hypocrisy was crazy that's why I went on a little spree where I was saying ridiculous things on purpose. But I wasn't even mad at that. I was just coming back with stuff to people that came for me because I understand this is the Internet. No hard feelings. She just got done with chemo tho and will be ringing the bell in the near future.

I'd rather win. They were all bad losses. UK is supposed to win. Not compare which loss is better or worse. That's how bad the program is. And yes it's not all Pope. We got tired of Cal and his losing then hired Pope who continues to fail. Some of the anger towards Pope is because BBN wants to win and it's been a really long time to the point people see us fading in real time.
Isn't this like the biggest gap in between final fours in our program history? I'm not a Pope hater. I'm a Kentucky basketball fan. It runs deep with me like most. One of the only connections I have to my childhood and family. It's bigger than basketball that's why I take it personal having a laid back coach that lets team get up in our face.
I gotta give Cal credit tho I like how he would dog a player if needed. I don't want to attack Pope but the guy seems delusional. He's so out of touch with these kids.
