…..when it comes to NIL spending? I never hear about how much Duke, Kansas, or Michigan has to spend to get loaded rosters, but the media always talks about how Louisville, Kentucky, and BYU is spending? Duke has to be spending a fortune, but no on in the media brings that up.

Because Duke's NIL comes from ESPN, Nike and Amazon. They have no alumni boosters, just corporations. And since it's a private school they don't want you to know.

Honestly, until there’s a cap, if there ever is one, it shouldn’t matter what any school/ boosters spend… It’s Pay for Play now, and may the best and most expensive team win!

If I was a billionaire UK booster, UK would have a blank check annually, to buy whoever, whenever they needed to, and they would outspend Duke, Michigan, UCONN, or whoever else would be required to have the deepest and most expensive team.

If there is no cap, then what is the point of the sport honestly? An unlevel playing field is unsustainable. Fans will lose interest at some point.

College sports have been loose around the rules for ages, so I'd assume that even if rules were put in place, most programs wouldn't follow.

There will need to be an intervention at some point to put guard rails on all this - otherwise there will be a max of 5-6 universities only in the P2 + Duke that can compete. Then the question will become how do they manage it, will programs follow. There is no sport like this at the moment - it's fully 100% professionalized. Case in point 23 YO Euros coming in.

Of course.

No one is going to pour money into a program that has no chance. There are still programs trying to see whether $$ can win them titles, like Ville, UK, Tenn, Indiana. (basically all in the same region, which is funny) with all their might.

At a point where the money runs so far ahead and dictates winning, why would any donor buy into someone that has no chance?

That said, the sport will be stupid. It's popular now because it's all new, but this would wear thin over time.
