Don't see a downside here. We needed a back up center, we got a serviceable one. We weren't getting Hakeem the Dream to come here as a backup to Moreno. Big body , strong lots of experience, I don't see the problem .
Glad you responded with sound reasoning instead of resorting to name calling like some others. I’m behind Pooe as long as he’s the coach of my favorite team, but he must improve in all areas if he expects to hang around very long. And if he does and the kid improves, the narrative will be that he was good before he got here.
I assume this is Pope's fault somehow.
You should see the stunned look on my face right now.
Something tells me you've never been satisfied and this isn’t even close to the worst state the program has been in. Cal went to an NIT, had the worst season in UK history and the 2 worst NCAAT losses in UK history, plus, how can a 50 year fan ever forget about "Kentucky Shame" that damn near could have been the death penalty? Give me a break.
I bet you were as positive as can be when KU was blowing us out by 50. Yeah, I bet you knew exactly how it was all going to turn out 8 years later.
Jesus, he signed a backup center, you're acting like this is our best player.
Sure doesn't seem like this is true.
Seems to me like Pope could get to the Final 4 and you would still post this crap.
He doesn't need shooting from the 5, Amari couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. He needs an elite rim protector, rebounder and guy to lob the ball to.It’s a solid add in a vacuum. But, again like last year, Pope isn’t recruiting guys who fit his system. And, it’s another guy who has been chronically injured.
I get it that he’s only gonna play 10-15 mpg. And, we do need a rim protector/enforcer. But, for Pope’s offense to really work he needs lots of shooting, even from the 5. I guess Potter can be the stretch big, lol.
But, there isn’t much shooting anywhere else, either. That’s my real worry. I admittedly overvalue shooting. But, it’s non-negotiable in zoom action. You can’t trot out a bunch of average shooters & ball dominant players & expect it to work.
We seriously need to land MM or a reasonable facsimile with these last two spots to have a chance at a good season, IMO. Really need to fill both spots with knockdown shooters now.
We have a cpl guys who could POSSIBLY fill the void. But, in a make or break season, that’s a huge gamble. I’ll feel a whole lot better if he can finish out the roster with a cpl of PROVEN shooters. Just don’t have enough, IMO, as is.
well said.I sure wouldn’t mind having the option to put Kepnang and Moreno and McBride on the floor all at the same time when teams like Clemson and Georgia are beating the Sam ******g **** out of our guys.
.A waiver? A WAIVER? Brother, the SECOND Franck Kepnang committed to UK, the NCAA should’ve auto‑approved that thing like Amazon Prime shipping. This man is getting a SEVENTH YEAR and maybe even an 8th year! The genius of the GM Battalion! Told ya!
What do you mean what are we doing this is a great pickupGood Lord, what are we doing. Dang I miss Kentucky basketball
We are signing an elite rim protector as a BACKUP five. It’s really not a bad pickup. Injury concerns? You betcha, but he isn’t coming to start or play heavy minutes anyway. You have Potter as a third string big for emergency situations. If you have complaints about the roster I hear you but this selection isn’t the one to crow about imo.Good Lord, what are we doing. Dang I miss Kentucky basketball
You never said thisDylan knows several agents, it’s mostly where he gets his info. Like I said I believe Kentucky staff is purposely giving false information this portal season. It’s happened too many times and never used to. It is what it is, I just hope Moreno stays and I like our 4/5 slots. We stilll need that shooter and the bag is available for Milan.
You never said this
I said it a few times but it doesn’t really matter. There is a reason Jacob reported the same thing, because that’s what the staff said. Props to Dylan and let’s hope Kepnang can stay healthy for us, him and Moreno together make a complete 5. Will be good for Moreno in practice to face that physicality as well. Now we must retain Moreno. You mean stays in the draft? It’s be a Euro big and Kepnang the backup. I was told Kepnang was only in play if Moreno left because then we’d need 2, and he wasn’t a primary target. It’s the same info JP had when he reported the same. So to me it’s bad news incoming for Moreno but time will tell. We just need to fill that 3 a lot with a scorer and I’ll feel much better about the lineup. I’m not so sure the staff isn’t purposely giving out bad info.
Dude you said he post for clicks he’s hit one you haven’tI said it a few times but it doesn’t really matter. There is a reason Jacob reported the same thing, because that’s what the staff said. Again this does not mean Moreno is leaving, this is not bad news ,I suppose he could, but the staff don't think so ,Kepnak is a back up ,The Staff believes Moreno will returnI said it a few times but it doesn’t really matter. There is a reason Jacob reported the same thing, because that’s what the staff said. Props to Dylan and let’s hope Kepnang can stay healthy for us, him and Moreno together make a complete 5. High high upside backup C.We are signing an elite rim protector as a BACKUP five. It’s really not a bad pickup. Injury concerns? You betcha, but he isn’t coming to start or play heavy minutes anyway. Ky won 3 NCAA Tournament games the last 2 years with injured squads & almost all new players. Pope will win at least 24 games this year & be our coach this time next year. Not certain your intended points.
1) Are you advocating for this recruit considering our existing roster construction and the Moreno speculation of staying in the draft? If so why?
2) Do you advocate for Pope’s performance as
Coach to date? If so why?
Red Wood High was my nickname in college.Ky won 3 NCAA Tournament games the last 2 years with injured squads & almost all new players. Pope will win at least 24 games this year & be our coach this time next year.
I think this new team will be fun to watch & deep at all positions. We might see a 7 ft average front wall at the 3 - 4 - 5 at times this year with two 6’5” guards . This is going to be a fun year to watch .
I don’t like Pope’s sub patterns & game management but I do like Mo helping him with that.
It is what it IS.

I would but I’d have to be awake to provide the clever retort.Respond with "Haven’t met her"
We get a solid player...you post this wah wah baby tear fest. I can almost see your little lip quiveringSecond transfer from UW.
What was UW record last year? 16-17? Is that correct?
I am sure Pope will “coach him up” next year.
He is going to be 25 years old next season? Is that correct?
There is absolutely, positively nothing exciting about this recruit for me. Nothing.
Nearly 50 year passionate fan of UK basketball, this is the worst state the program has been in.
Even in probation years, Pitino competency, coaching, recruiting, basketball style and program management gave hope during the tough years. You knew it was matter of time before he returned UK to the top.
Pope zero trust and confidence, which continues to be reinforced and rightfully earned with this off season **** show.
Hate bitching and hate negative comments. But they are recurring earned.
The day Pope and Administration get things back to UK standards and winning ways (I have zero confidence this will happen) I welcome opportunity to get back on the earned positive bandwagon.
you really dont see the downside of taking a player that would require a waiver to play his 7th year of college basketball?????Don't see a downside here. We needed a back up center, we got a serviceable one. We weren't getting Hakeem the Dream to come here as a backup to Moreno. Big body , strong lots of experience, I don't see the problem .
It looks like a huge improvement in maturity. He’s a marginal improvement over Garrison as backup C probably
Kepnag
6 pts 6 reb 52%fg 68% ft 2 block 25min
Garrison’
4 pt 4 reb 54%fg 59%ft .8 blocks 16 min
I’d say it’s an improvement over last season…and every little helps
and physicality! Garrison is like a stretch 5It looks like a huge improvement in maturity.
You have to be able to shoot to be called a stretch 5; BG was just a slightly undersized center...who couldn't shoot.and physicality! Garrison is like a stretch 5
I stand by my post and assessment of the present state of the program. We get a solid player...you post this wah wah baby tear fest. I can almost see your little lip quivering
I nor you know the details of his proposed waiver. Obviously Pope, the agent, the player and whoever does NCAA compliance for us seems to think he will get one. I will chose to look at the positive until I have a LEGITIMATE REASON not too.you really dont see the downside of taking a player that would require a waiver to play his 7th year of college basketball?????
the downside is that he gets denied in 4 months and now no one is available to play back up center. you honestly dont consider a likely scenario as a downside vs taking someone with no eligibility issues....
40-0 We're back baybay!
16-57 for 28% from 3 while at UK.You have to be able to shoot to be called a stretch 5; BG was just a slightly undersized center...who couldn't shoot.
I agree that he needs those things & even said that. But, it’s apples & oranges & not necessarily just about Kepnang. He absolutely does need shooting from the 5 for the zoom action to be at its best. Ideally, the 5 would also be a smart player who can pass & handle the ball. He could get by without it if he had multiple shooters around the center who also bought into the scheme. He doesn't need shooting from the 5, Amari couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. He needs an elite rim protector, rebounder and guy to lob the ball to.
Don't run out of kleenexI stand by my post and assessment of the present state of the program.
It funny, no one has ever claimed my lip quivers to my face. Only on Rupp Rafters do people personally attack others hiding behind a keyboard.
If you can’t stand criticism of the state of the program, block me. I could care less.
Because I will continue to criticize Pope, administration moving forward until the UK program returns to being competitive and in the national championship conversation.
Don’t you worry Cowboy.Don't run out of kleenex
