who would you rather have , Brea or Momcilovic. Also I think N'Diaye will be about what Carr provided. Will Wilkins ne as good as TyTy? Maybe. And McBride is an upgrade over Diabate, imo.
Hey Dave, I love the sideways profile pic!

Pope brought some tricks to the board, but like all coaches, there's always a book on them. Once the book is written, other coaches know how to counter his schemes. Pope's inability to continuously adapt and innovate is his downfall.
Confident we don’t have enough data for that conclusion, but I understand how bias can lead to that conclusion.

How did that look against Michigan State, Gonzaga, and Florida in his second year with a $20+ million roster?
I think the point was his victories have not been luck. Pointing out that we were all disappointed with how last year’s team makeup and injuries were not pretty does not change that fact. Even with turmoil, he still beat some ranked teams, including a loaded Arkansas on the road. We all evidently agree that was not luck. It’s a good start.

Sorry, I shouldn't have stooped as low as eastbound and down on here. I just get sick of the whiff post, or mark pope sucks post. I don't get why people are allowed to have multiple burner accounts, up to 10 ish.

That is reason why I defend him. I didn't want him initially as the coach and first year he did good, despite not having time. Second year we had injuries and management of team was bad.He don't have experience recruiting freshmen like Cal, Barnes, K does. I wish he would have kept Lewis and let Lowe leave.

He, I believe is a decent coach minus substitutions. Substitutions I believe were to give some people playing time Jasper and Garrison especially. Jasper is part of the problem, he didn't play well and his uncle said what he said on a public platform. Plus pope was wrong and spent money on jq a big risk instead of getting someone that would play

This roster so far has potential but is missing out on a wing unless Hawthorne or Kam turn out to be great. Also missing out on a backup center if Moreno stays in. We haven't missed out on everyone despite the rumors. We have 12 players and even some of them low on the totem pole can provide more than the kids off last year's team did. I hope we get him.

If you want to have a little bit of hopium, Aaron Torres made a decent argument as to why he may come here.
Always been a fan of a hit of pretty much anything.

Hey, speaking of, got this sudden hankering for a hit of creatine, you holdn’?

I was under the impression that they were kicking the tires as a contingency plan in case Haugh stayed in the draft more than they seriously thought they could have both. Now that Haugh is back, I’d be pretty surprised if they had the money or the lineup space.

With Chinyelu being projected as a late 1st rounder, he may stay in the draft and they could slide Condon and Haugh over rather easily to fit Momcilovic in.

If Pope can't land 18 recruits that come on campus, take them to Keenland, fly over seas for a center, and can't land any of them why in the world would he land a kid from a ZOOM meeting? this is nuts

We've had probably half a dozen commitments from the transfer portal via zoom/phone calls. N'diaye was the most recent. He hasn't visited.

I like Backo as the possibility for a backup center for three reasons . he can score he can rebound and he's too young to go pro

I believe Backo is who we have the best chance to get, but he is declared for the 2026 draft though and isn't too young, though he will most likely pull out beforehand and either go back to Euro ball or college somewhere. I think UK can land him if they want him, MO.

For me it's option A,B,C from best to worse.
A) Milan and Backo
B) Hampton and Backo
C) Alex Constanza and Backo

I'd love Milan and Houindo the most but I'm not sure we will spend the cheddar needed to pull those two off nor do I have the faith Pope and staff could do it.

You are right, Backo was born July 11, 2007, so he would turn 19 before the draft.

I like him more than anyone for that center spot. They call Backo Baby Jokic for a reason.

We definitely need 3 more impact players. Getting Milan would be a great start.
For me we need 1 starter who will be our best or 2nd best player an impactful backup 5 and I'd love another option at guard though I don't believe it's a necessity.

Some news I've heard from today is that the large donors were asked to kick in a substantial contribution for NIL. This I'd assume to mean that we are in play with some of these players we are looking to land and need more money to seal the deal. That isn't something that is asked unless there is real possibilities on the horizon. Take it with a grain of salt but I consider it great news.

So, you're saying right now it looks like a roster minus its two best players? Great!

I can tell you this, they wanted 5 million more than what they already had to build out the remainder of the roster and the boosters have pledged it with stipulations for who we sign. I don’t know all the details but it appears with the additional money we have 11ish million remaining and are about to try and make a splash to fill out the roster. With the timing and the draft combine I’d imagine it will be a slow week or two and then we will find out exactly who we will get.

The first step in a massive whiff. I don’t think we pull any huge recruit that we zoom with ever. Diallo is one of the only ones I recall. Most commitments have come from guys we didn’t zoom first, at least publicly.
I’m not sure if we would have even gotten Diallo if Arizona hadn’t of taken a point guard before he could visit them. Glad we got him because he’s a good player. Wilkins is my favorite of the guys we signed. I just wish we knew why we keep missing out on our main targets. Something is wrong and has to change.

This place is fine. It's a time where nothing is happening, and there's no excitement. Even the staunchest of optimists can only go so far in convincing themselves a ragtag bunch of players nobody wants is going to amount to anything. We see guys like Kev and ITVI coming to that realization. There will be friction when someone tries to talk sunshine amongst a group of frustrated fans who know what "success" looks like. It's just to be expected. You think this is bad, just wait until the first 20 point deficit next year and see what happens to someone who dares to support Pope. Or in the first SEC game when they go into the half with 21 points. People aren't having it anymore, the fanbase needs results.

That being said, Bruce9, I was rude to you a few days ago, I apologize for that, was out of line.
Well I'm not as down on the team as so many others are because this team has 2 things that last years team didn't, true PG's, 2 of them & a 4* star kid from high school that shoots it at a 40% clip, high school of not, watch his videos, he can shoot it, nice form, anyone thinking his NBA all star father won't prepare him for this is kidding themselves. The other thing is more 3 point shooting than last year, like i said earlier, Chandler was a stand still shooter, couldn't create his own shot, Morton can & so can McBride. Wilkins is around 31% overall but his catch & shoot percentage is 40%, Diallo can definitely get him open looks, Wilkins can get others open looks. We still need a few players but Pope is building this team to score like year 1, if it fails, well, we know what happens then, new coach. I think Hawthorne is going to be good, I think Pope just had too many players to satisfy last year so he held him back.

I don't really see a comparison. He didn't have the right players to even run his 'schemes' in year 2. That's on him. That's why you give him a third year. To see if he course corrects.

The dude has a 'do not contact' by his name. Pretty safe bet that his side initiated the meeting, and dictated how it would be done.

I heard MP spent the entire Zoom saying that it is ironic we signed Zoom Diallo after an in person visit but we want to sign Milan via Zoom.. That's good stuff right there ...
