Great to hear Ben is feeling we're heading in the right direction. A certain dork on this board always grilled me for saying McCollum was limited in what he was working with regarding the roster due to having limited time in the off season, and that it will take time to get to where he wants the program to be. Ben's quote here confirms that notion. He's beginning to get more comfortable and has begun to create a foundation for the program.
No, you got "grilled" for saying Ben didn't have a full off-season last year, when he did. He was hired before (or maybe the day) the portal opened, and while other teams were still playing ball.
And you, and others got corrected when saying Ben was "limited" with what he could build his roster with, as you are saying again now.
At the point of his hire, he inherited a full roster of potentially returning Hawkeyes with an incoming class. So, unless you believe each and every one of them chose to leave on his own, Ben was the one who limited himself.
It was his first roster build at this level, and he made it work. But it appeared he made a miscalculation at some point in the roster build. Certainly, Ben would tell you it wasn't the roster he envisioned, as he attempted to bring in another guard, that for whatever reason only lasted a few days.
Read better. And try not to mischaracterize, although I know that's pretty much impossible for you
