I know to you this sounds completely sound, but it’s all excuses at the end of the day. Mark Pope was brought in to win immediately, fact. Mark Pope was brought in to FIX the Calipari mess, not create new ones, fact. Mark Pope assembled the roster and Mark Pope evaluated the roster with the idea in mind that he’s here to win championships, fact.
All coaches deal with injuries. Teams have won championships and gone to final fours with major injuries. Mark Pope was brought in to end the final four drought, not complain that “this is hard” which is essentially what you’re doing. When he was hired, he said he’s here to hand banners. I must have missed the part where he said “maybe in 5 years, if all goes perfectly, if the schedule is not difficult”. This is all you making up another standard. If it’s hard for Kentucky it should be TERRIFYING to everyone else. But some of them don’t seem to have the same problem. Why is that?
Mark Pope doesn’t have the record past or present to be the head coach at UK, fact. All of this other stuff is excuses and noise in attempt to divert attention away from his inability to add up to the Kentucky job. This isn’t a positive or negative thing, this is about objectivity. And mark pope is objectively NOT cut out of this job and doesn’t deserve to have it. That is a fact.
