So now hyperbole is lying? If that's the case, every coach is a liar. Heck, we're all liars, because we've all done that a time or two in our lives.

Saying Noah is the greatest shooter on a radio show, knowing that comment is going to get back to Trent, is not lying, it's hyperbolic, but not some destructive lie.

Saying "I haven’t seen him", or "Schaedon Sharpe is going to play and he’s not eligible for the draft, so he'll he here next year too" knowing that's not true at all, are lies.

You're really stretching to land this false accusation, but you do you.
Do you believe what Mark Pope says when he speaks?

I agree with that actually and I don't like it, this place being an echo chamber of negativity. And I know that's hypocritical of me bc I add to it. But I genuinely don't see much cause for optimism. We are negative because we are responding to the circumstances we are handed.

I was positive in year 1 and the start of year 2. Year 3, I see zero reason to be positive. I'm positive Pope needs to gtfo
Yeah and I agree with a lot of the critisisms, but they have been beat to death by the same people in every thread and if there is any inkling of a positive thought about Pope, it's met with vile backlash, shot down and all the sudden, we're "Popette's".

Cal really hurt your feelings didn’t he? Unbelievable how much you complain about that. Who cares if it’s every thread though? It’s a Kentucky basketball forum and he’s the head coach, he’s gonna be talked about. His first season was okay, wasn’t a world beater like you want to prop it up to be though, had some good wins and also had bad losses and the same deficiencies and bad decision making that plagued this last season was still there in the first season. He didn’t make a jump like he should have in the second season, instead he showed he’s just a mediocre coach. And he’s not done himself any favors this offseason
This is incredibly rich coming from a guy that has allowed Pope to own him.
You're on here every day celrying about how bad Pope is and he actually did better than Cal with a lot less talent and more injuries.

Glad you see the irony. This is exactly what it sounds like when you’re in every thread complaining about others complaining about pope. The same guy who used to be in every thread complaining about cal. Funny how you only focused on that part of my response too

I mean, I haven't listened to every interview, but by all means, post a video, or even a quote that is an actual lie.

Again, you're really stretching the meaning of the word "lie" and nothing you said really moves the needle on the accusation.

I'm in the same place you are. I'm pretty sure I know where this is going too. You get rid of Pope now, we will get trashed in the media and on ESPN, but give him a 3rd year to get it right, THEN fire him when he doesn’t, the backlash won't be nearly as bad.

But, hopefully he does figure it out and wins enough for us to believe in him. The ice is paper thin.

I got pissed at Cal, because he put players and the draft ahead of UK and when you do that, you better win, he didn't. At least Mark Pope is putting UK first, or… he's trying to.
Popes getting year 3, but it’s not going to go so well imo. The talent just isn’t there on this roster.

I'll say the odds of it going well, are not in Pope's favor, but if he can get a star at the sf spot and another good big, I wouldn't be surprised if he was able to stave off the end of his UK coaching career.

We've all seen crazier things happen.

I'm stunned if I'm being honest. I can't even guess at how Pope is missing on so many bigtime guys, when it sounds like he is offering more money.

Is he still telling these kids that they're going to only play 28 or so minutes? I mean, UK has so much going for it, you really have to be doing SOMETHING very obviously wrong, to miss this often.

I hope Mark actually knows what he's doing here, because if not, it's going to be a rough end to his UK coaching career.

People don't harp on this enough but I think it's a HUGE part of his recruiting woes.
Pope likes to keep guys' minutes limited. Which sounds great to a role player. They know they'll get a chance to shine.
But is a massive turn off to most star players that are looking to find a way to the league

I just want to be clear, I'm only spitballing on that. It's just an example of what could be causing what’s happening.
I get he's a cheese ball kinda guy, but Pat Kelsey and Mark Byington aren’t much better and look at the guys they keep getting.
Shoot, you pay me enough money and I'll play for Rob Schneider, or Pauly Shore and never complain. Money talks and Pope has been offering more. Something's off.

I think you have Pope confused with John Calipari.
What exactly did Pope lie about? This should be good.
When you say you hate someone, it is personal, I don't care how you try to frame it.
Ok. If you want to call it personal, then call it personal.
How about the program improvement. I am not sure Kentucky Basketball can stand any more of his improvement.

Yeah, playing Edwards and Wagner over Reed and Rob was all about recruiting. Got it.

How did that work our? Duke and KU were taking Cal's lunch on the recruiting trail for 8 years.

Everything he did was catered towards individual accomplishments and goals. Obviously you were blind to it. That makes sense to me.
At this point, any accomplishment would be nice.

And that has been stated on here a gazillion times.

Nobody is disagreeing that Pope should never have been ordered the job, but Mitch did that. Once Pope took the job, he was getting 3 years. I actually think he exceeded expectations in year, year 2 got away from him for many reasons and now he's not doing so hot with recruiting.

If this does go sideways in year 3, my only hope is that we remember that Pope is one of us.

Ran it into the ground??? Uh, that's not even close to happening.

Billy Gillispie had 2 incredibly bad years, we were the best team in the country the very next year without NIL, or the portal.

You're being way overly dramatic. He made it to the sweet 16 and the second round as 3 and 7 seeds after playing top 5 SOS's both seasons. Set a record for most quad 1 wins and beat 2 Final Four teams in year 1. That's not even close to being "run into the ground".

You guys need to come up for air more often.

Yeah, OO was a really good college player and there is nothing wrong with that. Sadly he just didn’t get the coaching or help he needed to make a lasting winning impact.

I don't like Calipari for his last 5yrs, talking down to the fans and focusing on draft positions instead of winning basketball games for UK.I hate Mitch Barnhart for not hiring someone qualified to be the coach of the winningest college basketball program of all time.I don't hate Mark Pope but i hate what he is doing to our program and hope he is gone next year before we hit rock bottom.

Worked in year 1 intil Butler, Robinson and Carr got hurt, but you don't want to talk about that. Just focus on year 2, it helps with that cloud of negativity you live in.

What's it like being miserable every day?
6th in the sec and losing 12 games worked? 🤔 with a blowout sweet 16 loss to Tennessee 😂

Let’s dislocate a shoulder of any teams starting pg and see how they do.

Let's make sure everyone else has a pf playing at 60% health and see how they do.

Let's take any other teams starting sf and backup pg away, in addition to the other injuries and see how they do in an NCAAT game against a 2 seed.

pull your head out of your video game controller for 5 minutes.

Oh yeah, he didn't have injured players, or anything like that.
He got a 3 seed and won more quad 1 games in year 1 than any team ever has.
Grow up.
you asked why! I told you the reason he’s hated. It’s that simple, mark pope loses ALOT of games.

He's been here 2 seasons, you act like he's been here 10 years and missed the tournament half the time.

If your standards for a coach that had the hurdles Pope had in year 1, are higher than sweet 16 and most quad 1 wins ever, then you might want to go off the grid into a safe place, because no team will ever live up to your video game expectations. You’re going to need to grow up a little.

Whst would you say if Dan Hurley took the job and had 2 very similar seasons? Don't say that wouldn't happen, because prior to 2023, Dan Hurley had a very ugly resume.
