Guy was a 20ppg player, a really good athlete and a good defender. When you rely on team basketball instead of individual accomplishments, it's not hard to believe.
But you guys really have to stop trying so hard. Just say you hate Pope, there's no need to try to disguise it, we already know where this sh*t is going.

People just like to vent on the board. You vented about Calipari, and you were right for it when he was here. I’m not sure what kind of social media accounts you have but UK is getting made fun of bad lately. Bad enough I see why some people are getting upset by it. That’s definitely stirring the pot with our fans. I’m not mad at all because I already see where this is going. I’m hoping when Pope ends up fired we make a big hire like we did when BCG was let go.
He is or is close to being our highest scoring two year guy so nothing to be rend garments about.
Oweh doesn’t deserve the flak he gets. Was by far our best player and the only guy outside of Aberdeen who could create for himself. So yeah he had to force shots at times.
I'm in the same place you are. I'm pretty sure I know where this is going too. You get rid of Pope now, we will get trashed in the media and on ESPN, but give him a 3rd year to get it right, THEN fire him when he doesn’t, the backlash won't be nearly as bad.
But, hopefully he does figure it out and wins enough for us to believe in him. The ice is paper thin.
I got pissed at Cal, because he put players and the draft ahead of UK and when you do that, you better win, he didn't. At least Mark Pope is putting UK first, or… he's trying to.

I love the man. He is absolutely an angel of a human being, it's just sad that he was put in this position where he is clearly in over his head.
He is not honest with the fans and tries to play them as fools!!! You can believe his propaganda, but i do not. Let me clarify, I do not hate him personally, I hate him as a coach.

Whether it be Calipari or Mark Pope or anyone else, there is a job to do here and neither of these men fit that bill. Mark Pope is not qualified nor is he able to perform in this job. All the red herrings “you just hate Cal!” Or “you just hate Pope” (which have now started fairly routinely) are just a different side of the same coin. Mar Pope cannot and will not coach at Kentucky. The point here is to win to an elite standard regardless of how you do it. If you cannot do that you cannot coach at Kentucky. Mark pope has well over a decade of experience. And it all points to the same thing, he cannot coach at UK. How you feel about him personally has never made one damn difference.

Again, the second Mark Pope got hired, he was getting at least 3 years, unless he was so bad that he missed the NCAAT. That would have changed things.
You can't fire a coach 1 year removed from what Pope did in year 1 and you guys that think 1996, 2012 and 2015 are the standard here, are living in a fantasy land, that's not true at all, not even close.
Even at UK, getting to a sweet 16, beating the eventual national title, beating a loaded duke team, winning at Gonzaga and winning more quad 1 games than anyone in the history of the sport, is within the standard here, especially given the fact that everyone is all in on basketball. It’s much harder to win now than it was just 10 years ago.
But the bottom line is, this isn’t Pope's fault, this it Mitch's fault, Pope is doing what he believes to be his best way to win and it didn't work in year 2, but Mitch isn’t the one catching the heat, it's Pope.

Cal put the NBA draft and spoiled hs kids ahead of UK. He turned this into an NBA farm system and did what was best for the green room instead of winning.
When you do that, you deserve to be hated. Pope isn’t doing that. Pope is putting UK first. I'm not going to hate on a guy that is prioritizing #9. No, he’s not the right guy for this job, but I refuse to hate an ex player that is working his butt off to win a title.
Guess it had nothing to do with Oweh defending the best guard on the other team every game. That matters.
He couldn't have been all that bad, we entered the tournament rated 28th in defensive efficiency against the 4th toughest schedule.
Maybe do something other than just watching the ball and who has it.
The NBA draft stuff was a recruiting tactic and it worked, in the end he was too stubborn to change his coaching up. He also made it to 4 final fours and won a championship, so no I don’t get the personal hate that you have for cal considering he brought alot more success here than pope ever did as a player and will as a coach. His last 5 years sucked but that’s no reason to hate him personally like you do.
And spare me all the sympathy for pope, he’s working as hard as what every coach does and getting paid great for it

How did that work our? Duke and KU were taking Cal's lunch on the recruiting trail for 8 years.
Everything he did was catered towards individual accomplishments and goals. Obviously you were blind to it. That makes sense to me.
Worked in year 1 intil Butler, Robinson and Carr got hurt, but you don't want to talk about that. Just focus on year 2, it helps with that cloud of negativity you live in.

Pope also played the #3 and #4 SOS in his 2 years here. It’s funny how you left that part out.
We are a plane that is slowly spiraling out of control and losing altitude, and we have passengers sitting next to us saying "y'all just hating on the pilot." I'm not sure what sort of cognitive dissonance or agenda is going on with that minority on here, but damn it's annoying and childish.

The only defense people have for Pope is well look at Cal's last years ignoring the fact most wanted him gone. And this one of our own BS needs to stop. Trent Noah is one of our own so do we want a team full of guys with his talent level?
You know why it is about both? Because so much of the vile hate being thrown at Pope, is caused by Cal's failures his past 4 years.

First of all, in a plane crash like you are describing, nobody survives. UK is going to survive.
Second of all, those passengers being calm, are doing so, because freaking out and crying, does you no good and in our situation.
There are 2 things that can happen,
1) the pilot saves it, brings it in for a landing and we all end up on a beach.
Or
2) he crashes, we all live and we get a new pilot and still end up on that beach.
Jesus man, just let it play out. Why is that so hard for you guys to do?
