UK is very much a good ol' boys network. The Admin draw enormous salaries, while the education is very stagnant and not improving. The staff get minuscule raises. UK's standing in college rankings is extremely poor considering it's the flagship university. There is no accountability on anything. Major decisions are done under the table. Mitch's new gig was originally supposed to be paid from the general fund, which caused an outcry. Now he will just leave. They really need a clean sweep.

I think this is a charge that would apply at practically all universities today. Ridiculously bloated administrative staff that affects most bureaucratic entities like education at all levels (see Fayette & Jefferson counties), hospitals and government at all levels. Replacing one with another will have little consequence

A majority of faculty disagreed with his appointment for various reasons including leadership, which is critical to the responsibilities of a dean. Progression to appointment at that point of contention shouldn't occur unless there is outstanding reasoning, which there was not, according to what I could find.
Leadership? He was a federal judge for years. Before that, the United States Attorney for the EDKY. Try and find someone with more leadership experience.

I agree it was at least partly politically motivated, but I believe the statement signals that the state will be watching how things are done from here on out.
If there was something illicit, refer the matter to the Ky AG for investigation. Pumping out tweets on the official Ky Twitter page is not the way to go about it. It was PURELY political.

Are boards acknowledged? Are the proper channels and bylaws in place and being followed? The appointment of the dean and MB's golden parachute show a concerning lack of input from the faculty and discretion from established leadership when it comes to hiring and creating positions.

UKAA is a distinct entity. There should be board and president oversight, but I do not think the faculty have input.

If the faculty have left concerns, voice them. ONE said he was not published. WTF? The guy is more published than most people. He is a freaking judge. He publishes daily on the law and the application of the law. Hiring a judge to be a dean is not out of the ordinary. UL had Dean Donald Burnett who also came from the bench to be dean. This is a good hire. The pushback is political.

Just my 2¢ as someone who deals with **** like this for breakfast. Faculty getting the shaft is nothing new. Legitimate complaints getting silenced is commonplace. Glaring holes getting shelved is another Tuesday.
What are the legit complaints? The guy has taught at the law school. State the complaints. It appears there is nothing legit. He loves UK and is highly qualified.

Equating judicial opinions with publishing scholarly articles in legal journals? Weak sauce.

The faculty disapproved. Stay in your lane. You are reciting political dogma and are the biased one.

Please make your case. Explain how a law journal “scholarly” article is somehow credibly distinct from a judge interpreting the law and applying actual facts for an analyzed determination. Otherwise, you are pouring the weak sauce.

I think it is you who are out of their lane. Dogma? You might want to look that word up. Appears you don’t know its meaning. 🤦‍♂️

I think whether you love or hate Beshear, he's right about the state of UK at the moment. The Law school, the athletic department, the whole university is under a lot of issues right now, and it's time for Capilouto to retire.
I hope Capiluto keeps acting like he can do whatever he wants and gets the AG involved so we can burn this administration to the ground finally.

This new dean is a nutbag. Very very fringe. Supports anti-evolution positions. Defends cuckoo Bevin. Endangered public health. Bad rulings all over. Right wing extremist, typical legal motivated reasoning where politics guide decisions and then the law is interpreted to justify. He is legislator in robe, similar to recent docs coming out against John Roberts.

But the main facts here are that he was deemed “unacceptable” by s substantial majority of the faculty. That should disqualify him (by ABA standards at a minimum). Incredibly hostile act to select him. I have been on one faculty search where admin went against 6-1 vote; terrible precedent. You think I give a F about searches any more?

Of course Andy’s response is politically motivated - the new dean was a politically motivated choice that defied good practice and will erode faculty good will and motivation until he is gone.

now we know that you are just a political hack. You don’t know the judge. You are a fool.

Talk about throwing objectivity out the window in favor of ignorance. Simply a dumb political post. To think he taught at the law school and your post could have any merit. I am glad fools are being placed in the minority.

Weak response. You are a relative or clearly deep in the bunker. You did nothing to address my comments, especially violating best practice. My guess is you are relative or have some financial ties to the guy. You have come on way too strong otherwise. And you initiated the aggression here. Don’t bother replying - I have blocked you.

This is the real motive of Andy. He’s running for president and is burnishing his liberal credentials.
100%. I wouldn't vote for him for a dog catcher.
BUT, it doesn't mean he is wrong about this blatantly corrupt nepotism at UKAA. Broken clocks are right twice a day. Not sure what Capilouto is blabbering about here. This has nothing to do with stubbornness and everything to do with greed, corruption, and a good old boy organization. He wouldn't have ended the deal if Dandy Andy's posts didn't reveal it to more folks.

Nice try, Joker. You are the political bully who is so closed minded you cannot stand anyone having beliefs that differ from your cult. It’s antithetical to what a college should be. I am glad you are losing big on this one.

By the way, goofball, you did not make any factual statements. Just conclusory comments. I practiced before this judge. You swallowed the goofball cult bully pill.

Funny, one would think such a legally astute former judge would know when to remain silent.

It could be, depending on context. But, that is not what he said.
That’s basically what i said. The man is not young. I don’t t think the next guy should be young unless that’s the best candidate. 78 is too old and it’s holding onto a job and making long term decisions for the university . A guy who is close to retirement shouldn’t make decisions for his successor. We need to clean house.

Heaven forbid. He’d be the Mark Pope (talks weird, acts dorky has strange views) of Presidents.
Who acts more like Pope? Andy or the current guy who attaches the word 'beautiful' to everything, talks weird, and has strange views like telling the world that windmills cause cancer and demanding another country join the US as a state? Tell me when I'm telling lies lol.

Trump is a raging narcissist on the verge of being completely out of control.

Beshear is a buffoon.

Both are awful.

But Pope doesn’t act like the dangerous angry guy.

I stand by what I said.

"Differences," ethical corruption....potato, po-tat-o.
Andy Beshear tweets and you kiss his arse. Prove the corruption. Tell Andy to prove it. You can’t, because it’s politics as usual. Make baseless claims and then just lemming repeat them as if they are true.

Who are you from the old board? The stalker who followed me from thread to thread for years on the Paddock saying the exact same thing to get a reaction?

Your boy is at 34% and dropping with gas over $4 btw. Hope you're enjoying the war and our money soon to be going to a ballroom for him and his billionaire buds. That's exactly what folks voted for lol.
