That’s 100% what happened and we tried two times with McNeil. Do people really think we just didn’t go after those type guys? That’s delusion.
Sad to say but Pope getting turned away by recruits isn’t surprising at all. I think the people on here that take up for him so much are completely ignoring recruiting.

thanks for the info that you pass along on the board, btw

Yeah I agree. I understand wanting another big though because if Moreno gets two fouls in the first 4 minutes, we need a couple guys to share the load.

Ndiaye and McBride could probably play some together too at the 4 & 5.
Yes but from what I've read about N'diaye yesterday is that he doesn't play down low, only outside in. Maybe use him to drag a 5 out to the perimeter to guard his 3's?

Watching tape on this kid, he doesn't look bad. Is he Shaq? I don't think anyone is saying that. But I think Soph Moreno will certainly be better than Freshman Moreno. This kid looks like he could certainly cover up what we got from roller coaster BG. So...Center is better than last season. I think the two kids we have at PF will be better than what we got from Mo and Jelly. As much as I love DA, Zoom is a better PG and its silly do debate. We had no backup PG so we are better at PG next season. Wilkins is much different than Oweh. Ill give Oweh the nod, but I think its close. Chandler vs Kam? Was. So I think we are a little better. If we were to get Momcilovic, we would be a heck of a lot better

I just looked it up and it would take 22.5 hrs to get from Kentucky to Israel, and that’s assuming he just took one singular flight of course. I can’t imagine even entering airspace over there is easy and my god you are flying over rubble from missiles as you land. Why on earth fly that far for an undersized big who is average at best? After whiffing on stokes, how does Kentucky not have enough money to find that same big man here in the states? Oh right he probably wouldn’t be 24 either…

Momcilovic or that other foreign kid, joksimovich or something? One of those two might be enough to save popes job, otherwise it’s probably over for him
He needs one of those two kids to have the type of team that could save his job IMO. Either one of those and good health and this is actually a very nice team. But we need that shooter/scorer/Dude. Otherwise our ceiling is about like last season and that definitely won't do it for him

About 18 hours if someone is flying Delta Air or El Al and has to make multiple connections. Hours less when a UK private jet takes him directly to the overseas direct flight; it's 11 hours from JFK.

And Tel Aviv is a world class city and a very busy and functional airport, even during these volatile times. Zero delays from US flights today per a quick FlightAware check.

Does the magic underwear not allow for teleportation? If not, what is it good for?

I mean, going to the Middle East right now is a risk in itself. But he showed how much he is interested in the guy by just going over there.
I wonder if any of the other schools that are recruiting him went to that trouble ?
Going to be another bad look on us as recruiters if we whiff on this one also
Hope it works out

Well considering the best portal Center prospect is ranked 31st and from Seattle College, I hope this guy comes. He might be a good player. In reality we wouldn’t think Sestina or Harrelson would have been good and for sure not the typical Cal player but they helped.

It's so hard to say. Getting legit backup centers right now is damn near impossible. Hell, getting a starting center is damn near impossible. The market for big men is off the charts crazy right now. It's possible we will get outbid for the kid and he goes elsewhere. People need to start to understand that resources in this NIL era is everything. Why does Duke have the team they have, because they bought them. It's about money and if we have the most we can get the most players.

Seems like you have made up your own mind and answered your question.

Well his team scored a 102 points in a game with minimal defense, as Pope watched, Santos scored zero during it, which speaks volumes in of itself, though I’m sure Pope has his as top choice!

Pope was heard saying that he didn’t score but his analytics were off the charts in what the staff is looking for this season. SMH
Oh yeah, all of the metrics are there for him to be a Rodman type of rebounder and defender, everyone needs a player like that.

It’s quite literally this simple… It’s not a knock on UK any more than it’s a knock on the Cincinnati Reds not out spending the Dodgers or Yankees!

Do what you can do, and compete to the best of your abilities! I’m not sure how long some of these team’s boosters are willing to bankroll multi million dollar rosters every season, while everyone comes up short, except for one team.

Then, on top of that, if you have a loaded roster, most the $$$ is going to be bet on that team to win, and we all know how the gambling industry frowns on the favorite winning it all.
