You can almost feel the urgency after Stokes announced for Kansas. Pope knows we are in desperate need of a roster upgrade. Hopefully it's not too late.

That’s fine and all, but we need a starting caliber three way more than another big.
I was really hoping the purpose of this trip was to put the full court press on Joksimovic. THAT’s the international prospect we most need.

I know nothing bout Santos. Have not even seen tape of him (will watch some later). A 23 yo 6’8” Center who averaged 8.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1 assist, and 0.6 blocks during the 2025-26 Winner League Season for Maccabi Tel Aviv does not initially excite me. Did it in the Euroleague though, which is considered by many to be the second best league behind the NBA.
Just a tad odd to pull in a C that is shorter than our 4/3 at times. Maybe he plays bigger than he is?
TBH, this thing is starting to remind me of the movie “The Replacements”.
I really hope I’m wrong about this but I’m reading this as the staff is worried Moreno will stay in the draft.
Me screaming at my screen when I see Pope wasting time on a 23 almost 24 year old 6'8" center that averages less than 7 points a game.
Not too impressive numbers at the age of 24 against competition not known for playing competitive defense.
Of course, I like the idea of Pope looking internationally for talent upgrade to our roster, but I am not that impressed with Santos. Seems like we need to do better, but I could be wrong.

Damn - those stats? Dude knows how to foul people! Consistently averaging about 6 fouls per 40 minutes no matter the level of competition.

You would think so. Some shooting would be nice. A dynamic NBA prospect would be better.
The optimistic take is that Santos plays in the worlds 2nd best league. A league that is rated much higher than the SEC and a league who's leading scorer averages just 19 ppg (Santos averages just under 7 ppg on 14 minutes per game). Shooting splits of 55% fg / 40% 3pt / 80% ft. We had much worse than that last year.
Scores a lot, fouls a lot - in the Euro League (higher level of competition than NCAA) his per-36 numbers were 17.7 points and 8.1 fouls, only played 14 mpg. In Israeli league he had similar scoring (16.7 per 36) but much lower fouls (4.8, still high) and better rebounding (8.0 vs 4.2 per 36). Pretty high on turnovers as well.
Looks like a solid backup. Agree with others, we need a star wing more than anything but we DO need another big man.

I’m at 16 losses next season, and this addition would move that total at 16 losses.

We do need a backup for MM. he did not seem to have great stamina last year. That said, I agree that shooter is what we need most.
Pope is turning into a desperate fool. He is making Kentucky the laughing stock of the college basketball world.
What blows my mind is why is Pope not going after the Slovian kid and/or Momclivic?
I would be very pleased to see Pope land Momcilovic. That would seriously upgrade prospects for next season. He can shoot it !!
No doubt Moreno needed a backup besides Potter but we really need a stud game changer.
This reads more like Pope finally read the room and said get me out of the country for a few days. I can't believe the University would greenlight the travel expense required to go meet with this player in Israel.
Maybe he's being brought in as the goon to be physical with Stokes and beat him up for stringing us along haha.
