In the hunt!
Chris Gotterup birdies 17 and 18 to shoot 69 (-3) on Friday at the Masters Tournament.

Another solid round for Chris Gotterup. He shoots even par 72 Saturday and is -3 through 54 holes at Masters Tournament.

Started off hot going 4 Under after 14. Then double Bogey on the Par 5 15th and 3 putt bogey on 18. 1 Under, T44.

3 Under after 5.

Excluding the Par 3 4th, he's been crushing the ball. Shortest drive so far is 336 and Longest 348. Pitched in from 82' for 1 Birdie and saved a par on the Par 3 with a 65' pitch over a trap to 4' and made an 18' putt on 5 for his 3rd bird in 5 holes.

The TV guys just said what I have pointed out before.

For a guy who hits the ball a long way which should be an advantage, he struggles on Par 5's. On 8 he had to make a 9 footer for Bogey. He's 1 Over for the 3 Par 5's so far today.

On the 657yd Par 5 12th he drove it 357 yds in the fairway! He hit his 2nd 330 yds, offline by 70 yds. He had to hit his 3rd over trees but was able to get the Par.

He then missed the Green on the Par 3 13th but sunk his pitch from 40' for the Birdie. Then Bogeyed 14 ane 15. Even for the round.

Bogeyed 17. Shot 3 Over on the back 9. Finished 1 Over and T48.

The Gotterup Rollercoaster is in full swing.

Watching the second round, his long hitting is being neutralized by all of the fairway bunkers he's landing in. He's only hit one fairway through 11 thus far.

He's 3rd in Driving distance but as you pointed out, only 9/24 hitting fairways (68th out of 72). Earlier he was 54 yds from the pin but completely missed the green. From the Fairway on the 608yd Par5 12th, he hit his 2nd 300 yds ending 24-25 yards over the green. Did the same yesterday only that was 70 yds offline His 3rd went 65' past the pin. Of course he made the putt for a Birdie lol.

Right now Chris is tied for 44th after a 1 Under and Even Par for the tourney.

Out of 72 competing....

He's 2nd in Feet of Putts Made

3rd in Driving Distance

5th in Shots Gained Putting

T23 in Sand Saves

But....

T70 in Driving Accuracy

71st in Greens in Regulation

71st in Shots Gained Approaching the Green

Chris had his best round of the tourney so far, a 3 Under 69. I guess you would call it up and down with 6 Birdies and 3 Bogeys.

For the most part he stayed out of Fairway traps and currently his shots gained approaching the green improved from 71st the first 2 rounds to 24th in Round 3.

After 2 so-so Rounds which left him +1 and way down the leaderboard, Chris shot an unusual tale of 2 nines 6 Under 65 today.

He Birdied Holes number 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, and 9 for a 6 under 29. On the back he had 1 Birdie and 1 Bogey for a 36. His Birdie came when he sank a 32' Putt on 18. He moved up 26 places and goes into the Final Round T17.
