A fun offseason simulation experiment

Over the weekend, I put together the rosters for next season on NCAA 2010 for Xbox 360. So far, I’ve made over 30 rosters, including ours, of course.

I focused on stats and abilities to make each player as realistic as possible.

With Stokes on our roster and no other major additions, we’re starting the season ranked #9, but without him, we barely scraped into the top 25 at #25.

With Stokes we might be able to compete with the top teams in the SEC but without him we sit below:

- Florida
- Arkansas
- Texas
- Tennessee
- Alabama (just above us)

My best guess is that, without adding any other notable players, we’ll be battling Alabama and Missouri for fifth place in the SEC next season. It’s also possible both of those teams will exceed expectations thanks to their highly rated recruits, especially Missouri with Crowe and Bryant, of course.

N'Diaye definitely moves the needle in the right direction but doesn't quite put us back at the elite level we're aiming for and Hawthorne remains a true wild card, but in the best possible way.

Back in the real world, rosters are still coming together, and in the next few weeks, we might hear more updates on draft decisions, Euro and reclass fronts. It’s also worth pointing out that many teams ranked between 10 and 25 in these way too early top 25 lists have holes just like we do, Virginia and Louisville come to mind but there are more.

I’ll also work on updating the rosters and adding more teams whenever I have the time.

Man, Stokes looks great in UK Blue, and the team is a blast to play with when he's on the roster. He's a total disruptor who forces the defense to scramble and opens up the game for everyone else on the court.

They just need to release this already:

I agree, it’s been far too long, and the limited experience they added to 2K this year doesn’t even come close to satisfying the craving. I love playing full 30 season dynasties with UK and also starting with the weakest team in the nation, then building them up over the course of several seasons.

2K26 basically felt like a scam, so it's concerning.

Also to note that without Stokes, we are ranked 25 out of 30.

Therefore if we were playing with a full deck of NCAA teams, we would probably be ranked about 50th.

I forgot to mention the fanmade rosters. It's far better than the college basketball update they added.

It looks great, but I’m not a fan of it still being created within the NBA framework, as it limits the number of teams and makes the tournament feel less authentic, no true dynasty mode and no recruiting. The gameplay does look way better than NCAA 2010 though. Thanks for sharing.

Fair enough, but I don’t see us dropping as low as 50, especially after taking a close look at many of the top rosters and noticing that every team outside the top 8–10 has some holes to address. I’d place us between 25–35 without Stokes for now, with potential to improve since we appear to have players who can create on offense next season. Of course, rosters aren’t set in stone yet, so this is just a flexible assessment.

Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Missouri, Alabama, Arkansas all likely finish ahead of UK next season. That's just being unbiased. Anything inside top 6 is a success with the current roster.

Even just adding Stokes we probably finish around 5th. We need 2-3 significant roster additions to move the needle.

Lately Ive lost interest in most games but I would be pumped if they made another NCAA hoops game. Used to be so fun recruiting and winning a championship every year

Agreed! It was such a blast back in the day. Now that my kids are almost grown, I finally have time to play again.
