Good pickup for Cal, adds another highly touted freshman to their class next year. As we’ve discussed, the reliance on freshman will be interesting to see how it all shakes out, but with the 5 for 5 rule in consideration, the idea of freshman beating 5th year seniors mixed with real upperclassmen talent just isn’t there anymore.

Slim Jesus is my favorite internationals and European young talent. After last year, when UK was favorite, Pope put all his jewels in Stokes, and didn’t aggressively continuously maintain the relationship.
the changes of staff didn’t help either….i wish we had an experienced GM …oh well….MP it is what it is.
The narrative pushed by his new Spanish coach that he was a headique was bs. his Serbian coach that brought him at Partizan, which is a legend in Europe, had only great things to say about him…. The Spanish coach was pissed that that Miika is leaving after one year but that the agreement all along..

We still have plenty options outside of Stokes so MP should at least close on one more international player, 1 player that declared to nba and maybe one 5th year player if they become eligible.

his mom played for unc but also for finish national team. His dad also played for finish national team. Mom and dad liked Pope and Cal. They could not relate to former unc coach And the current one does have a good track record with European players but was too late to the party. if Pope would have maintained and prioritize the relationship, Miika would have been in UK uniform. We werefavorites last year.
There's being in the mix and spending time/resources, and actually being able to sign him. I'm aware that we've been recruiting him a long time. I just don't think we were ever a realistic destination for him in our current situation.

people didn't know that Ndaye and Muurinen, who have a very similar game, were watching each other to see where they would land, and for sure they were not going to play together. that's how we got one and Arkansas got the other.

I’m not surprised this kid chose Cal. He seems to like the drama. I am looking forward to a time when Kentucky, like the Kentucky of old is recruiting well enough that we can tell a kid like this to pound sand. But as it is we could have used the talent.
