1) Recruiting and putting a team together
2) Coaching them to get the best possible out of each and every player.
But you need number 1 before you can even worry about number 2. For all the talk about Cal being a bad coach, he gets players. Period. He's done it for years at different schools now. If I have a choice between 1 and 2, I'm taking the guy that can do number 1 well. Becasuse there is NO amount of coaching that was getting us to where we needed to be in the last two years. None.
And to be completely honest, I'm not sure Pope is even good at number 2 at this point.
