You replied to the wrong one, that was me. . . and I stand by McCowan was ready to commit yesterday to an offer of money that wasn't currently available. It was well publicized the family intended to commit yesterday - and then things went sideways and I would assume they are trying to reassess their situation.

If you have more information on the situation please enlighten us. What I will say is so far @hawkbuck70 is still undefeated on his sources and information ;) . I should have taken that more into consideration. Even still I never said it was a guarantee and we would see what would happen.
Yes ^^...quite simply, things changed. Who knows, they may change again. The three "sources", of which I was one, had good reason to share an encouraging tidbit. But.........until the ink is on the paper you just never know I guess.

I know they have offers out, but I don't know how many and what the aggregate amount offered is. This process is reminding of a reverse auction though. Changing frequently too.
Of the 4 schools connected with her Iowa, Iowa State, OSU and TCU - even with things going sideways I think Iowa is the most likely destination of the 4. However I think if you were to put Iowa against all other schools outside of the 4 - I think I take the other schools. I could see a school have some money come available due to someone falling through and they offer a better package. Who knows though.

As to a reverse auction I do think its accurate. Schools have budgets and money allotted and available - as the money and budget gets allocated to other commits the remaining offers either are no longer available or are less than before. I also do think recruits are coming into this thinking there is a pot of gold that just isn't there for most players.

Getting that much of the allowed 20.5 million is much more than most universities are going to be giving their women's basketball program. 20.5 between all sports is not much to go around...most sports are getting nothing I would assume.
I agree, I had read the following
- football - $14M+
- Men's basketball - $2.5M
- Women basketball - $1.5M
- Wrestling - $1M
- Baseball - $500K
- Balance - $1M for all other sports

I've never believed NIL for men's basketball took us above $10M with NIL and the women $4M with NIL.

Bottom line, Beth, the coaches and a few others know.

What do you think of Ava Miller 6-2 F at UND.
Would struggle IMO. The best low post player in the Summit League -by far- is 6ft3 F/C Avery Koenen, NDSU …..and the Bison somehow persuaded her to return to NDSU for her senior year. VERY smooth athlete, averaged a PTS-REB double double, earned POY. I bet they are paying her a bundle. Yes, ND is an oil rich state (#3 in USA).

Recruiting and the Portal are chaotic entities, to be sure. However, if Raegan does not choose Iowa, Eva DeChent from New Hampshire would be a great fit, if the money is right. I was skimming through some WBB portal information and came across this list. Seemingly, all of these forwards are still looking for homes (again, if the money is right.)
Kaelyn Carroll 6'3"
Georgia Cox 6'4"
Jaleesa Molina 6'3"
Jite Gbemuotor 6'1"
Oralye Kiefer 6'3"
Sa'Miyah Smith 6'2"
Cristin Carter 6'4"
Essence Cody 6'4"
Aaliyah Roberson 6'2"
Ice Brady 6'3"
Isi Ozzy-Momodu 6'3"

Based on information on this site, money may be tight and who knows how much these young women are asking. I am sure that JJ and LaSondra have many of these women on their "portal board" and all of these women have potential. They may not be 5 star talent; but , I think they would be very functional in Iowa's system.

Those are all good options. And they obviously haven’t signed and may be realizing that, like Iowa, teams got who they wanted right away and spent their money and now most top schools don’t have a lot left. So either these girls (or their so called agents) will have to make a decision. Take a little less than they thought, or continue to hold out but I’m guessing the money just isn’t going to be there. It’s women’s bball and at most schools, just like Iowa it’s a number 3 sport and the majority is going to FB and men’s bball. Unless some big donors decide to pony up on their own.

Iowa has Woliczko, Heiden, Houston and Hays to play at the 4 and at the 5, and only Chit Chat at PG. I’m not against adding one more post player, but not having at least two PGs in the roster is crazy. The standard for most teams is to have three PGs in the roster. Not making signing a PG in the portal a priority is insane.

Stuelke, McCabe, Feuerbach, Deal = Carnegie, Whiting, Woliczko. Add in loyalty bumps/raises for the players staying. That leaves you with maybe what you had going to Levin, Mallegni, Johnson, Gyamfi. I guess the hope would be there has been more added to the pot.
You very well could be right. Just speculating. For some reason I think Mallegni was getting more than we think. She was a pretty high prospect. Can’t remember exact rank. Just my thoughts.

Deal also played PG. She was the plan B, and Stremlow was the plan C. Iowa also had Kennise Johnson and Callie Levin as options to play PG. I have nothing against having a versatile player like Stremlow, but she isn’t a PG. If JJ puts Stremlow at the 4 and the 5, she play too. Playing PG is different from being a PG. It’s a very important position for improvise a solution because there isn’t a true PG on the roster. Not even HS or DII teams think like that.

Not that much different than in the scholarship only days, we are recruiting X amount of gals and only have X amount of spots available. Take it now or it may not be there later (and now maybe the spot is there but the money shrunk). Always a shell game going on.

@hawkbuck70 - have you heard any movement on any other potential transfers or do you think Iowa may be in a wait and see situation for a couple weeks to a month until we get more movement in filling the final spots of the roster.

This could be an interesting player. Completed Jr year so 1 senior year of eligibity.
Vermont is a decent team and does play some P4 teams non conference. Reminds me of Kaitlin Chen.
Looks like she shoots the 3. 3 yrs 180 of 430 for 40%

Kiera Hanson last season 14.3 ppg 2.5 rb 1.7 assit\st

Intel seems that they are entertaining filling spots of what's left to fill out a roster with some mid major athletes. (i.e. McCowan). They also continue to look for one year commitments that fill a need. Also, open to some younger, previously highly rated high school athletes who haven't had much success thus far at the collegiate level but still have promise. So, in other words, they need, at minimum 4 players and the net has been spread wide.

oofta.. hope they have more than that left. Only have 8 girls right now. Need to add 2-3 more and seen reports of them looking to at 3-4 in freshman class. With only whiting being a senior that’s gets very thin.
The freshman class will be another year off. They'll either need to reassess or get more funding before then....
Addy Brown to UCLA.
Wow. Quite the upgrade for her....
