Not the best news. Had her pegged as the #1 3pt shooter (against Top 50 and Top 25 quality teams) of anyone we went after so far. She'll likely be starter here and why IA was probably a tougher sell.
As far I recall, McCowan is the only left in the pipeline. Sure they're looking at others but haven't heard any other name(s) surface recently.

While we know the staff is trying to add another guard, I think our 3 point shooting will be fine with the 4 guards we have

Though she cooled off at the end of the year, Wright is a solid 3 point shooter and I think her numbers will improve next year by not having to take shots at the end of the play clock and not having to play 35 minutes a game

A question for Kyle? Does the staff ever release the names of players whose agents may have contacted Iowa, yet Iowa chose not to recruit? Or is there any list/information which would tell fans who was interested in Iowa? Or as an insider, are you aware of players that contacted Iowa? I remember Addie Deal saying one of her handlers mentioned to her that Iowa might be a location to investigate?
What the Iowa staff does or doesn't do and why is not an open book. It's crazy what fans feel they are entitled to know.

In Addie's case, I feel she got bad advice. Although with Carnegie and Whiting joining the team, her minutes were certainly not going to be greater.

I thought she was the best 3 point option. However - Whiting is slightly better defensively and is a more than just a shooter. Neither Whiting or Hare would have been a starter. We now have Chit Chat and Carnegies as our guards. Likely pushing Stremlow to the 3. McCowan is the last named individual we know of. My guess is some more options will come out this week.

Agree. ^^ No offense to Hare, but I will not lose sleep to "losing" a 6 pt per game shooter.

I totally agree on the 3 point shooting. Wright was more than solid. She was 8th in the country at 44% while shooting a relatively high volume. Same for Stremlow who shot 41% in conference play as a starter. Carnegie wasn't as good, but she still shot it at 35% for the season at a very high volume. There are no Kylies in this group. I'm also looking forward to seeing if Journey can add the 3 point shot to her game. She did hit a few this year and if that can become a regular part of her repertoire she's going to be outstanding.

I'm not convinced Stremlow beats out Whiting. That could be a fun camp battle.

It's certainly possible at this point that the minutes between all 4 of these players ends up being very close given the lack of depth in place today. Assuming they bring in another couple of guards with the primary focus to fill out depth, the top 4 guards are looking at a lot of minutes in the rotation regardless of who is starting.

Well, if Deal was staying its doubtful we bring them both in. If that was the case then Jan would probably have thrown her cards in on Addie, and we probably don't land one of those ladies.

In the transfer portal. I think she would fit and fill a need…

Thoughts?
Interesting that she played the 5 but statistically she looks much more like a 3 or 4. Excellent shooter with range. Wherever she goes she looks like a high level P4 starter assuming she's fully recovered from the ACL that cost her last season. I kind of doubt she ends up at Iowa given the investments down low already.

Almost exactly my thoughts as well. Not very likely but I do like. One anomaly I noticed in her career stats was the notable decline in her minutes per game as a junior. Also a grad transfer or maybe withdraws and returns to TCU.

She averaged 6 pts a game. Seriously. 6. Were good.

The portal may be closing but the players already in the portal are all still open to be signed. I trust that Iowa will more than fill their needs. The portal sure adds a different perspective, though.

Raegan McCowan would be the logical assumption - and that would be a great addition. I hope that materializes.
Raegan would give Jan a lot of options on offense. We would have a much better three point shooting team to prevent teams from packing the lane.
