Pope’s best move would be to go all in on Momcilovic if it’s possible. And Stokes is the better Freeman option.

Momcilovic is by far the best fit for Pope’s system as a stretch 3 and always has been.

He’s a bigger body version of a combo Brea/Carr hybrid shooter with more flexibility to fake and pop from mid range or whip a pass over the lane or to an open shooter on the opposite wing.

Pope needs to spend up to ALL of how much of whatever UK has left in regular NIL to plug him in with Williams and Moreno (who knows about Hawthorne) and then Pope will have the best complement of roster construction to get Stokes (if it’s still a possibility AND if Stokes is serious about it being his deciding factor).

Again— it’s worth spending the rest of the regular NIL money just on getting Momcilovic, ti have the best chance at getting Stokes.

Because if Stokes is getting paid by a special booster fund and he really is evaluating the roster Pope can fit together before deciding to come, then this one move (getting MOMCILOVIC) should be the most attractive for Stokes— and Pope pitching Stokes to be the guy (the high post big) to run the Zoom action through him az the high post big — and Moreno as the low post escape valve.

Hear me out why this makes a great final pitch to get Stokes. too!

Stokes has a great wing span, would make a great pick and pop threat and he is also an exceptional high post passer, with a tremendous first step to be a powerful finisher at the basket but can just as easily step out to make the three or dump off to Moreno or a driving guard if the defense collapses on him down low.

Seriously, if Pope can’t “analyze” this then he needs to drop the Zoom as his offense. Because we really don’t need Freeman when Stokes is just as powerful a finisher at the rim BUT unlike Freeman, can run the offense through him at the high post.

IMO, this is Pope’s best Hope for constructing an offensive combo that could absolutely be a Final Four caliber lineup using the system he actually is good at coaching.

Everyone on that roster can pass, create spacing and lots of downhill drivers with legit 3 point lockout/step back options (and one an elite outside shooter with Momcilovic) in that lineup.

Stokes and Momcilovic are both 3's. We need a stretch 4.
MM can play the 3 or 4. He would be a MUCH BETTER complement to Stokes because he is a MUCH better 3 pt shooter. 48.6% v 31%. We also have 2 guards who can get to the basket if we have guys at the 3 and 4 that have to be guarded outside the lane. I don't think his injury history is bad like Freeman either. This is a no brainer for me.

He will command top 1-5 portal $$$, and when was the last time Pope landed a top 5 portal transfer?

There’s a first time for everything, but now Pope is being clown suited by these savvy agents, who are using UK to get the actual offers they want for their clients, playing for actual established coaches!

Pope just needs to get a few guys from the bottom of the portal and move on, because he’s about 11 months away from the end of his UK coaching career anyway, no need stressing over a guy or two who were never going to save his butt regardless.

He entered the portal with a do not contact tag. I thought he was as much of a Florida lock as Fland last year if he doesn't stay in the draft.

Pope has buried himself by being to proud to hire a GM who can actually negotiate with agents instead of being punked by them over and over. I hope he can pull some rabbits out of his hat, but it certainly isn't trending in that direction. You're right though, he should be gone after next season if recruiting and on-court performance remain the **** sh0w it's looks like at this point.

Wait...Pope should go after the very best players available and especially if they fit his system? Granted, he's whiffing on lesser players that don't fit his system...but I think you're on to something here.

My favorite is when posters say we just should "go grab some studs". Like...wtf has Pope EVER done to make you think that's something we can do so easily??

the "— " give it away. no humans use that. shame on OP for being an unoriginal B word.
I probably SHOULD have used AI to help me write that, because I wouldn't have wasted as much time trying to get my thoughts out-- (and there's the infamous double dash I just used again, and which I do use a lot) to say what I did without making it WAY too long. So, I confess I have a bad habit of writing things in a way that makes it much longer to read for others, than needs be. But, I'm pretty sure if I'd used AI my OP it would've been much more concise,

And also looks like (because I didn’t notice it until a few minutes ago) I also have two free accounts registered. The one on my laptop is the one above. And this one is my cellphone. Guess I’ll replace the laptop one and use this one on it too. Otherwise I’m going to be confusing more people than just me.

Honestly Rancik is the best passer of em all. He had good upside. Should've went cheaper and used the money elsewhere or circled back to Freeman.

Okie doke. No use arguing over something only one of us could know is true/false. And sorry (or maybe I should take it as a complement?) that the way I write comes across as being produced with more intelligence than I thought I possessed. Hopefully, I won’t continue to post stuff here that continues to cause confusion or offense.

And either way— you have my well-wishes!

(PS: Looks like the font generated in this post using my fat thumbs on my iPhone keypad makes a different type of double dash than my PC does when I’m typing on its keyboard— but either way the result is still that I continue to use more words than necessary to state something— and if you use an iPhone, maybe you could see—or not— if you get the same result.)

I actually agree with you, too.

BUT

I was just saying if he’s not already tried, Pope needs to TRY to throw the kitchen sink at this guy (or his agent).

But we’ll likely never know whether it is, was or will be possible — because Pope hides info (and himself) from everyone. A confident in himself risk taker he most certainly is not.

Will Stein needs to forcefully mentor (even if not desired) our BB Coach about how to change (or maybe even invent) a narrative that might end up leading to something unexpectedly GOOD.

We’ve heard NOTHING from CMP since he went AWOL right after this same guy’s team ended our season.
