The problem isn’t other schools. Our NIL deal for Freeman has a minimum games played clause to collect the total contract. Freeman’s agent didn’t like that and that’s what has caused the delay. It’s not competition from another school, just his agent not wanting that clause in the contract and our staff not budging. From my understanding it’s been taken care of now, so as far as I’m concerned pencil Freeman in as our starting 4.
Good on Pope if he stipulated a minimum games clause.

Yep, UK should do the same thing, tell Freeman he has until midnight tonight to take their final offer, or they retract it. I am not hating the player, I am hating the game here.

The NCAA is to blame for all of this mess, getting agents involved in the process. They could've nipped this in the bud well over a decade ago (maybe 2 by now), but they were too frickin greedy. It's not the players. It's definitely the agents.

I doubt there are many agents that are UK grads or are neutral on this level as well.

If Freeman wants to play at UK, then his agents shouldn't be stopping him from doing that by the very nature of agency. If he doesn't care where he plays and he's left it up to them, it's not really his decision anymore. If any player can't sign a deal with a "games played" clause, we should move on. Bad business not to.

I don't care if our basketball team sucks if it means we pay more invalids that won't play because they're scared and don't feel like it. We've had enough JQs and others. Let's run this sht like a business or shut the doors and go home. GET.A.FKN.GM.AND.A.COACH.THAT.WANTS.TO.CRUSH.OPPONENTS.

That cannot be included in an NIL deal.

That is completely illegal. No way that was an issue.

I’ve heard of deals this year with performance bonuses and everything. I’m not familiar with the legal ends and outs of NIL and don’t want to be. It seems like an unregulated cluster F to me.

That's how it should be for pro athletes.

Requiring those clauses (min games or performance bonuses) means you take a chance on losing a player to someone who doesn't require them to play or perform well. I'm OK with that.

Are you just talking about yourself now? Or are you posting from the wrong account?

He's an idiot troll that just set up an account here today to get his little jelly beans off at other's expense. Its probably a clueless retread that's been banned before. Likely a Canadian at that.

I’m saying in general if they relied on their inner family who actually matter. Not friends, posse, agents, etc…
Yes I know I'd want my parents to negotiate my deal for me instead of people who actually do this for a living. Your statement makes no sense.

Oh wow, I hope this turns out correct. Kinda ballsy to be that direct after the Wright stuff. You have balls my friend! I’m glad they put the clause in there, it should be. Kudos to the staff for that one.

A good agent won't allow their client to sign a contract where, if they get hurt, they don't get paid. I don't like it, but the agent is looking out for the guy if this is true. Also, I don't want to be known as the school that does that. Every agent will stay away.

Ellen’s brownies bring all the boys to the yards.. that’s right they’re better than yours. She could teach you, but she would have to charge.
"Kelis said her milkshake bring the boys to the yard... then Nas went and tattooed the btch on his arms".

Also.... "Jay-Z won."

I think someone in their 30-40s from NY/NJ/PA would get those references. Any of you?

Is NIL different than the revenue sharing UK directly pays players? If yes, do you believe that would also be illegal to have clauses? Thanks

lol, not ballsy. I just share what I hear, and when I hear something concrete from people I trust I’m not afraid to share it. Only the trolls try to say I claim to be an “insider” when I definitely don’t. I don’t have a twitter or instagram and I don’t go on there to check anything so my only information is from this message board and the people I talk to in my network. Trolls will be trolls though, I’m just a fan who loves the sport.

Matt just reported things have broken down with Freeman and his agency. Doesn’t know where things are going from here. Thoughts about accuracy of that?

Haven’t heard that myself, but the agents are definitely the issue. Our offer is much higher than anyone elses so if it truly broke down it’d have to be because the staff had enough of the BS. If there is truth to that then Freeman’s agents will have cost him over a million because our offer is well above all others. I don’t see how they don’t give in eventually, I’ll stick with my information unless I hear otherwise. I go against what Jones says often, sometimes I think he embellishes for clicks.

I would feel bad for Pope if he didn’t bring this all on himself. When your backup plan commits before you can close on the guy you want, you have to pay more. Also when it takes you nearly a week to close on recruits you open the door to other schools. This guy is such a moron.
