Brothers,

son2 just put me in charge of alcohol for his big day. They are going sans bartender so everyone will be helping themselves. We have an ice boy, after I meet him we’ll decide on a sexy outfit or not.
Thanks for the help, I never drink this schit.
Heres a brand $$ (cosmo flavor) the bride digs:
Id love to know if the “cheaper” stuff will make people ill or not.
cheap stuff $:
of course they’ll be tons of wine, surfsides, Guinness and lites.

CHEERS!

since I’m driving home from sampling in Philly manana, I’m sampling tonite, grading A thru F all On The Rocks products:
knob OF A
BASIL rye manhattan A
blue Hawaiian Curzon rum F (disgusting)
pinapple jalepeno margarita tres generationalis tequila A+ DAMM
expresso martini with effen vodka and coffee liqueur A+ moms first A
whiskey sour Jim beam tart deliciousness A (I won’t drink these at all)

Look at the flavors. OTRs has them premade
Well, there you go. Get the Cosmo for the chicks and the OF for the dudes.

Of course, you could probably save yourself a bunch of money just buying booze and mixing yourself in some sort of vessel. Manhattan is just 2 parts whiskey and 1 part sweet vermouth (bitters can be applied by the drinker at their discretion). Maybe you don't mind paying a little extra to avoid the work though?

There is no such ******* thing in the world. They do not exist. Buy son One a Boston shaker, a stirring glass, a swizzle and a couple of other necessities along with some bitters, some mixers, some garnishes, some booze, some Vermouths etc. and put him on the right path.

just say no to Canned booze. Get several bottles of Jim Beam Black ( you may have to go to Mexico for this ) a few six packs of small Diet Coke cans, some maraschino cherries and a few bags of ice. Get sloppy.

I’m trying to relax, not supervise the drink station FFS. The wedding is outside and 100%DIY

i did not read through the other posts so sorry if something similar was posted.

I will look. I may do this. A few days ago 2 taught F how to make old fashions. We’re partying Saturday afternoon, I bought 12 flavors of on the rocks for them to sample. Moms should probably take the DD from Philly job the more I think about it

The Rick, I can't speak for the others on the board, but I have not yet recieved my invitation. I'm sure that it was just an oversight that will soon be rectified. Anyone else not get their invites yet?

I’ve had the OTR Old Fashion and their Mai Tai. The OF is made with Knob Creek and is good if you don’t have the time or energy to make your own. I picked up a bottle in a grocery store for about $12. Got 3-4 cocktails out of it, so not badly priced. The MT was OK, but I liked the OF better. When I was in Australia in 2017, we stopped in Bundaburg. The town is named after the big Rum distillery. They had cans of their rum and coke. On the side of the can they explained they started making it in the 1940s when the US Marines stationed there kept requesting rum and coke. They still make it today. I have seen their ginger beer in the US but haven’t found the rum and coke.

So many working issues.

1. So son #2 is getting wed (congrats, btw) and he wants you and moms to plan and pay for things? I always thought it was the bride’s parents’ responsibility to organize and pay for the wedding🤷🏽‍♂️

2. The Groom and family are customarily responsible for the rehearsal dinner. Any deets you want to share?

3. I’m of little help when it comes to pre-made cocktails. I don’t do tacky.

4. If you hire a bartender(s) it almost absolves you and moms of legal liability in the event an attendee over-imbibes has an alcohol-related incident after leaving your home.

Enjoy the big day and be sure to give a good speech.

👍

I love the OTR Manhattan’s and OF’s. I do think they’re a little sweet though compared to making them yourself. Bulleit also makes a premade OF and Manhattan and I think they’re slightly better overall than OTR, but either works. Think both also do a whiskey sour but I’ve only had the Bulleit version which was very good. Not sure about other premade cocktails unfortunately.

Who is in charge of the music?
Me. I tried to talk Rick out of it but he insisted. He said the Friday Jukebox threads are preparation enough for me. Who knew?

On a serious note, best to be really stingy with the gummies. One, if you’re not used to them they can be overwhelming and you’re in an unfamiliar situation, among people you met only that morning. Two, mixing them with alcohol, bad idea. Just my two cents.
