Men’s basketball portal recruiting is going very poorly. Struck out on Karter Knox and Samet Yogigkbvdkhgsbj who were both considered players we had the inside track for. Good thing we kept Paris!!!!

Might as well go snatch up as many G League players as we can get. I'm sure they aren't making much.

The CPA or Controller of the University has to be like Jordan Belfort's father in the Wolf of Wall Street every time he sees the bill for firing a coach. "What is even E & J Entertainment?

Paris being snatched up by another school would certainly have been bad for recruiting. *nods in agreement*

According to the TOS insiders this is not true. We are still in with both players and several other high profile players.

What’s not true? Those guys absolutely committed to Indiana and Louisville along with the transfer forward we were after from Iowa

I mean I guess things could always change. Brumbaugh is on the table along with a couple other guys but I don’t have high hopes for Paris to land them.

Maybe thats the disconnect. The guys "committed" elsewhere, but are still taking competing offers.
There seems to be no indication of that from other insiders elsewhere. Louisville seems to be in Kentucky mode ready and willing to spend it all on a roster!

I wish people would get comfortable with the idea that we are wasting next season in order to reduce Paris' buyout.
Bleak. True. But bleak.

Here's a hypothetical twist: football turns in another dismal season. I don't think he survives another sub-6-win season. If Donati is forced to part ways with Beamer, that likely buys Lamont another season, no matter how basketball does.

I guess a question is, how bad can football be WITHOUT Donati being forced to let Beamer go b/c he knows he wants to keep financial flexibility to fire Paris?

Throwing good money at bad. Need a time machine to go back to the past. I was never raised to live in a society like this. It has to be even more difficult for those that were born in the early 70's or 60's. I'm sure there were some really dumb things, but at least there was hope for a brighter future.

Can anyone provide an update on our current roster with those who graduated/transferred out/transferred in?

I’m not comfortable with the idea that we are spending 10-12 million on a roster to waste a season and I will never get comfortable with that.

I just dont trust those numbers. There is a site for the team in upstate that said they were upping their NIL to 10 million, and excited that they are now in the top 30 or so.

Why would they supposedly be excited about spending less than us, and expecting results?

Might be unpopular opinion around here, but I think 6-6 and a bowl appearance buys Beamer another year. I'm not saying that should be the case (I think anything less than 8-4, he should be shown the door), but I believe that's the reality we're facing.

And yes, MBB for us is just a sunk cost at this moment, and will remain so until it becomes economically feasible to part ways with Paris. I hate it, as I'd really like us to be a factor in March Madness more than once a decade. But the AD put us behind the 8-ball (see what I did there?), and we're going to have to wander a while longer before things can improve.

If money is the only reason to come to Carolina, and it is, why would any decent player come?
A payday on a lousy basketball team can't be fun for a college kid with potential.

Imho, you would need to sell a guy on the team on top of the money sales pitch.

Point to 2 or 3 free agents we're bringing in and try to sell that we're "serious about improving". Easy to type, hard to do.

Agree on the 6-6 thing. Also agree on it being what would be done vs what should be done.

I don't see any way to not win 6 games next season in football. Quite a few here feel like a new OL coach and a new OC are going to be worth at least 3 additional wins over last season.

I think a more troubling thought is; what if football goes 6-6, goes to a crap bowl and wins? Is 7-6 and a win over a mid major in a cold weather bowl game enough to keep Beamer? I'm afraid it is. Such a record would not be enough to excite any recruits or the fans but Beamer would be back in 2027.

I think it would be worse to face a future of perpetual 5 to 8 win seasons than the unknown with a new coach.

I used to only look at our changes and assume that it would give us "x" improvement. But each of our opponents is also making strides. Teams we beat think they've closed the gap with us as much as we think we're closing the gap on others.

Here's the schedule. I think the biggest difference is that we only have 2 patsies now.
