Wow! You talked about how bad the TV deal was for years. I guess you were right. That's impressive, in both a good and a bad way. Good for this year & going forward. But WTF must they have been thinking when they signed the old deal?
Splatter games across enough platforms and eventually more people will see one.
Makes sense.
Breadth not depth.
The arena stats show plenty are very much willing to spend. Good bit to see games. That's healthy for the league.
I think the biggest difference is having it back on NBC because they make it a priority. They have games on weeknights on broadcast television. That’s a lot of eyeballs right there. ESPN/ABC did not do a good job by themselves to carry the brand and the NBA was almost an afterthought because they wanted to talk about the NFL and college sports more. That’s a crazy one year change. Where do that many new eyes come from?

The new TV deal was a huge winner. Also attendance was up.
I agree the NBA is really fun right now. Playoffs are gonna be great, I would encourage people who haven’t watched the association in a while to check it out.Prime time emphasis, plus the league is just fun right now. Lots of interesting teams.
Not sure if any watched the Miami/Charlotte play-in game but it was entertaining to say the least.
You'd think it's be them or New Orleans. New Orleans at least has a lot of tourism to fill seats though. OKC and Milwaukee aren't much bigger, but I would assume they are more affluent and have a better base to attend games.Probably dead last.
I was already losing interest in general, but State sucking really killed off any chance I'd stay a minor fan. I went so long checked out on college that i don't recognize the vast majority of the players. Is there any breakdown (I have no idea how tv ratings work) of unique viewers? In other words, are more people watching games, or are the same people watching more? I'd guess the later but have no idea.
I've kinda quit watching a little along to the point that I bet I can't name 20 players, but it also seems like a great time to be a huge NBA fan.
I’m waiting for Sports Media Watch on Twitter to have a breakdown of the numbers. Is there any breakdown (I have no idea how tv ratings work) of unique viewers? In other words, are more people watching games, or are the same people watching more? I'd guess the later but have no idea.

DCD, looks like HotMop wants to be on the list.I can't say that I watched 1 game.
Yeah, I was wondering about this. Unless the NBA expanded into a global market where the viewership was zero before, it’s hard for me to wrap my head around an 86% increase due to little more than swapping a few networks around. The NBA’s popularity didn’t magically double during the last yearI also think "views" on digital mediums are mostly BS.
As someone who was a preferred marketing developer for FB, I can tell you the standards for a "view" can be as little as 3s. Some platforms will claim a "view" if the media was merely loaded in a timeline and no sound was played.
Most likely. Guessing they are one of the few shrinking.Probably dead last.
Bro, he may end up being the Goat, literally.I've really enjoyed watcing Jokic play and I'm looking forward to seeing them against the Timberwolves Saturday. Jokic has made assists great again.
+1 on the recommendation to watch the NBA in its current form if you haven’t in a long time. If you have the old mindset of “they don’t play defense” try it out and watch a playoff game or two. There are a lot of teams that flat out get after it. Combine that with so many teams ability to stretch the floor because everyone can shoot and open up space for guys to go downhill to the basket and it is really entertaining. The play-in games last night were awesome
My Spurs are good again. It’s what the world has been waiting forThat’s a crazy one year change. Where do that many new eyes come from?
People who watch Mississippi state sports saying that the NBA is a bad product is freaking hilarious.
Clay Travis is shatteredBut Clay Travis has been telling us for 15 years that ESPN and the NBA are on their verge of collapse.

College game is pretty bad nowadays . That being said, I watched the last 2 minutes of Regulation and OT of the MIA-CLT game las night and that is probably the first NBA game I have watched in yearsThat’s a crazy one year change. Where do that many new eyes come from?
You picked a good one, that game was incredible - aside from Charlotte's atrocious 3 point shooting for most of the game. That being said, I watched the last 2 minutes of Regulation and OT of the MIA-CLT game las night and that is probably the first NBA game I have watched in years
I was at the deciding game 6 in 11 when the 8 seed Grizzlies beat the 1 seed Spurs. The loudest game I’ve ever attended. It was glorious. My Spurs are good again. It’s what the world has been waiting for
I was at that playoff game against the Spurs that Gasol won in OT. Kawhi Leonard had 40+.I was at the deciding game 6 in 11 when the 8 seed Grizzlies beat the 1 seed Spurs. The loudest game I’ve ever attended. It was glorious.

I haven’t watched 1 quarter in the last 10 years.I can't say that I watched 1 game.
To be fair I grew up watching the New Orleans Jazz and hated when the Mormons came in and took the team away.DCD, looks like HotMop wants to be on the list.
