When he was hired I gave him three years. After three years he would either be a success and leave for a bigger program or he would be a failure and he would find an excuse to get out of coaching. It appears to have taken one year longer than expected. Short of a playoff run this season, it will be his last in Boulder.

Who could have seen this coming?

Anyone with a brain
I honestly feel a little bad for Colorado, because they're a once-proud program that filled a huge need in that part of the U.S. (I also have an appreciation for them essentially ending Nebraska's dynasty going into the 2000s 😉)

Utah and BYU have sort of taken over as the premiere programs in the mountain west, but when people say CFB is better when X teams are good, I think of programs like Colorado or a Pittsburgh/West Virginia, or some of the schools that would be considered mid tier to above average that have had some success in the past several decades.

That speaks to a healthier competitive sport overall, rather than the regurgitate bullsh** that we need the same f***ing teams at the top because "ratings". F*** your ratings and what the casual f***s want to see, ESPN.

With that said, you knew this would be the ultimate outcome with the Deion experiment. CU fans were sold a flashy bill of goods at a time when they were struggling and vulnerable, and they jumped at the chance for instant relevancy.

But that unfortunately was always gonna come at a cost.
