Wow Golden St just traded Flau'jae for the rights to a player drafted in the second round????
I would have killed for Flau'jae to end up with the Fever
I would have killed for Flau'jae to end up with the Fever
We should all remember this:
Is Raven Johnson not a guard? She's a fine player but the Fever are going to lose at least one of Kelsey, Lexie, or Sophie next season. They should have drafted a player who could develop into a backup for one of them.
Ya doesn’t make much sense. I guess GS really wanted Saurez and no one was willing to trade up for FJ.Wow Golden St just traded Flau'jae for the rights to a player drafted in the second round????

If guards is what they need they took the best available point, and 2 SG.She's a 5'9 point guard who is a very good defender but also a streaky, and that's putting it kindly, shooter. I would have preferred they went after someone with more scoring upside, or a bigger guard.
Fair. But CC/KM are not a good defensive comboShe's a 5'9 point guard who is a very good defender but also a streaky, and that's putting it kindly, shooter. I would have preferred they went after someone with more scoring upside, or a bigger guard.
Because one hates the other one to the very core? Seems like a bad chemistry experiment to me.Why?

im fine with it. It’s not like it’s a top 5 pick.
Yeah don’t think this is true.Because one hates the other one to the very core? Seems like a bad chemistry experiment to me.
Taylor and Hall were also much later picks, right? Raven adds some good D and shot 40% from the 3 last year. I would have loved to draft size but there really just wasn’t much.Best available doesn't mean best fit.
The Fever have drafted defense first guards who struggled shooting (Taylor and Hall) the last two years and both of them ended up getting waved.
Maybe Raven becomes a sniper and this turns out to be a genius pick. I'm worried you'll have a non shooting threat that defenses can help off of or you move Raven to point and have CC playing off ball which she sucks at.
If it’s true Raven will find out who wins. I think they’ll figure it out if they haven’t already.Yeah don’t think this is true.
I think CC will be fine.

as for the comments about Clark and Raven hating each other, well they’re going to need to sit down with a 30 of multra and figure it out.
It seems like the Fever have a crowded backcourt rotation, but I don't know a lot about the WNBA and now that Indiana doesn't have that hillbilly GM anymore, I'll trust they know what they're doing.
I don't think the "wave off" was anything more than emphasizing the very strategy that won Iowa that game. Clog up the middle and make them beat you from outside. The hate or disrespect part of this is simply being overplayed. She improved her shooting this year so there's promise, she also had two awful offensive performances in the Final 4. Her scoring is still a pretty big question mark.
The hating each other stuff is silly, I doubt the Fever would draft a player CC hates or a player they think hates CC. I'm sure neither are thrilled to get asked about the inevitable "wave off" questions again but hopefully that blows over soon enough.
My concerns about the pick are strictly basketball related rather than the alleged or imaginary beef players have with CC.
ExplainI don't understand the Fever first round pick...makes less than zero sense....seems like a big problem waiting to happen...
The 2nd round pick was pretty good. Probably went lower than she should have.ESPN gave the Fever the 5th best draft grade out of the league. Not bad for picking 10th.
You might remember that Boston was on that team as well, and now she and CC are fast friends. (its not like they signed Angel Reese). Johnson will know the pecking order for the Fever from the day she arrives. I think they'll be fine and hopefully she brings some more defensive toughness to the backcourt.Because one hates the other one to the very core? Seems like a bad chemistry experiment to me.
Really. A UConn grad? Who'd have thunk it.....Did anyone hear A. Fudd's interview? She was a little arrogant.
I was a bit surprised also. Athletic 6'7 women don't grow on trees. I think Betts is much more aggressive then Cardosa as well. I'd "Betts" she starts game one....I don't understand how you can not take Betts 1st overall. She's an absolute difference maker defensively. Fudd was terrible in both the elite 8 and the Final 4. I get that she's Paige's girlfriend but that pick makes no sense to me.
Because they need help now and they already have a 6'7 center. For front court needs, maybe Awa Fam fits in better than Betts but they cant afford to stash right now. If PB or Arike leave the floor, it leaves them pretty limited.I don't understand how you can not take Betts 1st overall. She's an absolute difference maker defensively. Their coach said yesterday Betts was going to start the season as a Backup to Shakira Austen, but things can change.I was a bit surprised also. Athletic 6'7 women don't grow on trees. I think Betts is much more aggressive then Cardosa as well. I'd "Betts" she starts game one....
Two weeks ago Raven gave an interview where she said that the “wave off” and subsequent backlash of Iowa fans calling her a monkey on social media caused her to nearly give up the sport (recall this is the same incident that in this very thread we’ve been asked why we should care since it happened three years ago). This was two weeks ago. Seemed like a message to the Fever not to draft her. Maybe she really doesn’t harbor any ill will towards CC, but she absolutely does toward CC’s Stans. Guess what? Most of them are Fever fans now. Do you think she looked happy last night? I don’t think she wants any part of the social media microscope/circus that will come with being paired with CC. If you’re the Fever front office, why even mess with this potential drama? I don’t think this will end well. My take anyway, fwiw. You might remember that Boston was on that team as well, and now she and CC are fast friends. (its not like they signed Angel Reese). Johnson will know the pecking order for the Fever from the day she arrives. I think they'll be fine and hopefully she brings some more defensive toughness to the backcourt.
Not trying to flame here, just asking a serious question. Kelsey is a 2, possibly the most offensively proficient 2 in the W right now. She’s certainly in the conversation. Lexie and Sophie are 2/3s. Do you think Raven is a 2 in the W?Is Raven Johnson not a guard?
Maybe. It’s clear the Fever took best available since they didn’t need a starter. Not trying to flame here, just asking a serious question. Is the concern that the Fever drafted someone they don’t need or that “she hates CC?”Maybe. It’s clear the Fever took best available since they didn’t need a starter.
It’s pushed by people that have to have drama injected into sportsIs the concern that the Fever drafted someone they don’t need or that “she hates CC?”
She was projected to go around where she was taken. She elevates D I a. Backcourt that frankly isn’t good at D. Still trying to understand the outrage.
You and I will have to agree to disagree then, I guess. IMO, Raven is not a viable replacement for KM who is likely headed back to Ohio and the Cleveland franchise next year.Maybe. It’s clear the Fever took best available since they didn’t need a starter.

I’m sure that hole will be addressed through free agency. You and I will have to agree to disagree then, I guess. IMO, Raven is not a viable replacement for KM who is likely headed back to Ohio and the Cleveland franchise next year.
