Banjo or 5 gallon bucket drums?lol Nice try. But I’m a musician and would prolly get kicked out of da band if I stopped smoking weed. J/k

lol I play mostly bongos/congas with this group. But I do play a kit, talking drums, tar and darbukas in other little projects.Banjo or 5 gallon bucket drums?
Exactly right....call it the Lockett move....He is trying to get all that he can and what better way than to let another team think Iowa is possibly in the picture?
i was at the match. Shocked he came back after the injury. GUTSWhat makes you think that? Looks to have somewhat of an injury and struggled with Mack Mauger before he got hurt.
granted it’s his first college match, but Mauger was barely a qualifier
You taking anything substantial out of a period and a half of d1 wrestling in a true freshman year is bananasI’m not disagreeing I suppose.
my main argument is proven results > unknown results.
granted I’m not in the room. And it was some time ago but I don’t recall DeLuca being in on anything but he was riding tough. However, the guys that are ready right out of high school are having pretty significant victories against fringe qualifiers.
It’s the only data that exists. You taking anything substantial out of a period and a half of d1 wrestling in a true freshman year is bananas
And Robinson and Bailey have trained together since they were lil tikesHe is trying to get all that he can and what better way than to let another team think Iowa is possibly in the picture?
They both wrestled for the harvey twisters I believe could be wrong thoughAnd Robinson and Bailey have trained together since they were lil tikes
To be fair the only one on that list that was close to DeLuca's pedigree was Drake (probably exceeded Leo's). Yes Ybarra had some acclaim and Petersen too, the rest were assumed backups / room kids. It’s the only data that exists.
The alternative is trusting what people in “the room” are saying without seeing any actual product which is even more banana’s.
fwiw I’m more than happy to be wrong here and hoping he is championship caliber but the recent lightweight high school recruiting is like Drake/Kale Peterson/Jace Rhoads/Anthony Lavezzola/Jesse Ybarra/Dru Ayala/Keyan Herdnandez/ and of course DeLuca.
not exactly inspiring (outside of Drake).
I can't believe I'm saying this....What makes you think that? Looks to have somewhat of an injury and struggled with Mack Mauger before he got hurt.

If Iowa can land Zepeda that will be the best transfer addition since Caliendo. Buchanan may have won the title but Caliendo was a lynch pin, a guy who wrestled the tradition Iowa style y'all yearn for from yesteryear. Zepeda is a damn stud with 4 years. If I were Iowa he'd be top priority over crookham, Shapiro and all the rest.Gotta win these transfer portal battles. Zero excuses.
His brother is at Michigan might be hard to win.Gotta win these transfer portal battles. Zero excuses.
Agreed. Although if they take Zepeda then Lemley might hit the portal. His brother is at Michigan might be hard to win.
Damn, that's a lot of hardware. You must light up a metal detector.
Big.Crookham to Iowa!!!! Per IA Wrestle!
I have a good feeling that Schubert will man 165 for Iowa. Don't know; just a hunch.Updated lineup
125: DeLuca
133: Crookham
141: Nasir
149: Block/Estrada/Duffey
157: Block/Estrada/Duffey
165: Block?/Kennedy?/Torres?/Voinovich?
174: Gabe
184: Ferrari
197: Harvey
HWT: BK.
Not entirely sure the brothers are on best of terms, after all, one was at NCST and the other committed to Michigan. Similar to the Merrills, which is weird that 2 sets of blue-chip brothers from Gilroy wrestle at different collegesAgreed. Although if they take Zepeda then Lemley might hit the portal.

The first attempt happened before the portal even opened.Robinson called Iowa and asked to come visit. We are recruiting Iowa but Iowa isn’t going to close the door on a national champ that wants to visit.
Nebraska is in the driver seat and wiling to pay VRob a lot of money. I mean for a team that says they don’t pay guys — it’s a boatload
That would be 3 straight years away from competition. People were complaining about Ludington having to be on the bench 1 year if we land AJ, but Deluca was our premier recruit in the class and young guys at 125 do better than 197.Robinson and Crookham could go 125/133 for a year then move up the following year after Bailey graduates and make room for DeLuca at 125. Makes sense if DeLuca isn't ready to make a run for a title immediately
I don’t think it’s crazy to think him if healthy and Knox couldn’t beat Lillidauhl. Peterson almost pulled off the upset at nationals. With Lillidaul so tall I never anticipated him going 125 for 3 years, but if he’s not a career 125 now he may not have a spot on the roster. Hard to believe.I guess our recollections of that match are a little different. Deluca didn’t get a takedown in the first period but he was never threatened either. Then he rode out the 2nd and suffered a serious knee injury shortly after escaping in the 3rd.
It’s more about the word coming out of the room prior to the injury. He’s the real deal. I will admit it’s a somewhat of a bold take but that weight class is wide open and he has all the tools.
Pretty sure he was in on a few shots and got a takedown after the knee injury. That’s why I didn’t think it was more than a sprainI’m not disagreeing I suppose.

I heard Endene to Iowa State was a done deal in January. I know he was 226 a week or 2 prior to the first meet this year. Isn’t he out of eligibility? I was surprised he got this year. 2 JUCO, 3 Wartburg. If JUCO doesn’t count, why does Tavion Banks not get to come back?Idk thats just what they said was part of the problem along with an injury just thought it was interesting info if he does move up next

Only having two high end recruits that were not even in the lineup together and a bunch of room guys is exactly the problem. Bad recruiting! To be fair the only one on that list that was close to DeLuca's pedigree was Drake (probably exceeded Leo's). RTC. If guys like Sealey and Connor Mirasola stay at PSU despite no path to starting, it's because they value international freestyle over college wrestling and feel like that is the best place to be for their freestyle ambitions.Penn state and Okl state get to do it.
Why can’t we have nice things too?
What kind of mental gymnastics does Cael have to pull off to make them think their international career is going to be relevant if they are a backup in college?RTC. It's probably not that a hard sell considering they are both freestyle world age group medalists (Sealey U17 gold). Freestyle is different than folkstyle. What kind of mental gymnastics does Cael have to pull off to make them think their international career is going to be relevant if they are a backup in college?
