I wish VT well but listening to him makes me happy he is gone. Tired of his song and dance 'alignment' blah, blah, blah. Sounds great to someone who hasn't heard it but I've seen this movie and know where it is going.

Franklin has a ton of respect for Sands, but the coach and university president have to be maligned aligned.
Franklin did to Sands what tressel could have done to gee — “I hope he doesn’t fire me!”. Neeli had better make sure that Campbell is happy.

Nah - think this guy was ready to retire. He signed off on Franklin which is maybe the biggest, boldest move VT has ever made. But, truly don’t know.
Update: reading few articles and message boards and seems to be some influential alums aren’t happy with fundraising efforts and that Sands helped author a letter asking college presidents to reign in extracurricular sports spending (above and beyond the settlement). Think all the stuff that was promised (big investment in athletics) is mostly sizzle and no steak at this point. Would say I feel bad for James but that would be a lie. Tim Kaine suggesting he was forced out.

Seems like VT was worried their president would pull a Sandy Barbour and chain the athletics program to dead weight for years to come.

What VoTech didn't realize when they hired JF is that he prefers building bloating bureaucracies instead of football teams. He feels the need to surround himself with sycophantic personnel as a form of a security blanket.
