When Trump came into power, he quickly cozied up to those kinds of people. He told us, repeatedly, how impressed he was with them. How "strong" they were ... how their people listened to them.
Shockingly, to no one, Trump started adopting their tactics. He grabbed power that wasn't his, continually pissing on the Constitution. He threatened and intimidated his own people. He grifted off the system. And, now, he's a blustering saber-rattling blowhard ... just like them. He's now upgraded to threatening genocide ... you know, but it'll be THEIR fault if it happens. "Don't make me genocide you! I don't want to, but I will, because I love you!"
And, there are sadly whackadoodles who are still saying "Yeah, that's cool. I mean, he's a habitual liar, so he's not going to do it, but ... you know ... they kinda deserve it, so whatevs. We like having a guy like him in power."

lets be clear, the president might request funding, but the Congress has to approve it as was pointed out by @LafayetteBear yesterday during our discussion on reprogramings. How about you speak out against him? The rest of us have had it with how submissive the Republican party has become, including the rank and file because the rest of us who care about the reputation of the office don't have the power to do anything about it. At every turn, Rs have given him a pass no matter how vulgar and indecent he behaves and no one is willing to draw a line in the sand so he gets away with everything, no matter how depraved. Call your representatives, vote for the opposite party to make sure there are checks and balances - do something, anything please but don't just sit on the sidelines and shrug.

Checks and balances you want, have you noticed that the government has been shut down twice just within the last 6 months. It would be just as nice and maybe even nicer, if the members of both parties would work together to solve our problems. But, each is too interested in the next election and gaining or keeping power.
