I don't like hearing this, he was our 4th option at PG in the portal. Hoping this is for a backup role and that it doesn't mean we struck out on the top 3 choices. I'd gladly take him as 2nd option PG and Mason Williams as the 3rd.
A few questions.
1. Was?
2. Who is the "our" referring to?

First time I'm hearing of this guy and I like him.

Why does Pope keep recruiting non shooters? Isn’t that his whole coaching philosophy to shoot 3s??
Pretty clear he has an archetype of former top 100 prospects that can score yet have good assist numbers.

Lowe/Thomas/Zoom/Demary(not great assist numbers at UGA as he was more of a scorer there)

'Our' meaning Kentucky and he is 4th man up on target portal PGs. I don't mind him but he cant shoot, he's similar to Lowe really but a step slower and plays more physical. Like I said if he is option 2 I'm fine with it but he can't be our starting PG or we will be average again.

Demary and Dedan can both shoot decent, at a 35% clip. Zoom is 31% and I think Lowe was like 27%. And even when he played you seen how bad he was.

Backup role!? lol

He’s not perfect in my book but he’s not going anywhere to be a backup.

He’s more the type of PG I want. Has more of that Lamont Butler type build. Was highly coveted out of HS as well.
His shooting improved a huge amount his sophomore year. And shooting 82 percent from the FT line is a good indicator he can shoot it well. The more I see on Diallo the more I'd like him to run PG next season. And you're exactly right, big and strong guard who you don't have to worry about getting hurt as easily.

Just curious. How do you know who's in what order on our board?

This kid seems way better than just fourth.

From his highlight videos he settles way too much on midrange jumpers. Seems like a good passer. Maybe it was just the video but it seemed like he struggled getting by defenders which led to those midrange shots. I really don’t like this fit for SEC ball.

He’s going to use his size and strength more than speed to get his shot. Even if he isn’t the fastest guy out there, he’s going to need much more durable than a smaller, quicker guard like Thomas. Just my opinion.

For PG, I prefer quickness to size/strength, other things equal. Give me Ulis, Tanner types over Andrew Harrison, Askew.
At most other positions I'll take size/strength (except not over skill).

I wonder if they could get Dedan Thomas at the point and then get this kid to play off ball at the 2 spot. I don't know if that would even work just a thought. That way you have three true point guards on the team and this kid still gets the minutes he's probably expecting. I highly doubt this kid would come here as a backup, so I wonder if we missed on Thomas?

I realize he is a good player but he isn't the type of PG that we can win it all with unless we get some stud Wings to go with him. He isn't a 3pt threat and in our offense that just doesn't equal us being a contender. I don't want to watch a repeat of what we've been seeing is all I'm getting at. Roster construction is going to be crucial if we plan to be able to compete at the level we need to.

Similar to Butler would be a nice addition. Butler was a good strong pg and his shooting improved with us. Butler was having his best season with us before the injury bug bit him.
