I heard from a pretty reliable source that we are on some people and will be talking with them right away tomorrow. Heard the plane is stopping at Carver West and Carver West West to meet with a few guys…

Or 141 and 157. Originally I was thinking 141 and 149 with Block at 157. Nasir could RS.

157 would be a stretch for the Frost boys, IMHO. As is 133 but for other reasons. 😂

Man, Evan has been cutting so much, i'd love to both guys wrestle with little to no cut. I think Evan would be plenty big enough at 149.

Either way, he has to go up.

I agree. To me it just makes more sense for Block to go up because he could easily grow into the weight and I think it may be good for his strength and gas tank. Granted I’m a nobody speculating on the internet who has little actual knowledge so I will admit it is possible that I am wrong lol.

Stopping at Nebraska to bring Aj back makes sense. I can’t see Metcalf wanting to jump on the plane though and I thought he was the new assistant? Bringing the frost brothers along? Got to love speculating!! I stilll believe Tony Ramos and Mark Hall are in play however.

Well it APPEARS like some GOOD STUFF is in the works and the POSSIBLE outcome could very well contend for a title!!! Now once again, MANY things would have to go right for IOWA!!!

BUTTs, have to understand, IF it ALL comes together as it very well might. You have ALL OUT WARS brewing!!!

GOD am I STILL VERY pissed about BASSETT!!! With him, the line up, on paper, could have indeed been the FAVORITE before POS ncaas!!!!

Just because they start at VT doesn't mean they stay 4 years - obviously.

Here is my updated analysis with the transfer portal now open. We have real work to do at three weights: 133, 157, and 165. 141 is a wildcard weight is only a need if Bailey leaves or chooses to redshirt, but it’s a real possibility worth planning for that gives some flexibility.

133:
  1. Ryan Crookham - Lehigh. 2 years of eligibility. Proven commodity with the highest upside.
  2. Tyler Knox - Stanford. 2 years eligibility. Less risky and also a very high ceiling.
  3. Zan Fugitt - Wisconsin. 2 years of eligibility. Feels risky. Finished 4th as a freshman but has always been very up and down.

157:
  1. Daniel Zepeda (NC State) - 4 years of eligibility. High Upside, Youth on His Side.
  2. Kai Owen (Columbia). The cheaper safe option. 1 year left.

165: The Most Pressing Need
  1. Hunter Garvin (Stanford) - 2 years of eligibility. By far the top piece on the board.
  2. Carter Schubert (Oklahoma) - 2 years of eligibility. One to Watch as he was up at 174 but is reportedly willing to go 165.
  3. Tyler Eise (Nebraska) - 4 years of eligibility. High profile recruit. This one is complicated. Eise is a freshman at Nebraska currently listed at 174 pounds. Could he cut to 165?

The ones who aren’t in the portal (yet?):

The Frost brothers, the Larkin brothers, Daniel Cardenas, and Ty Watters are all names I would love to see in the portal but none have entered. Cardenas in particular would be a massive get at 157 and he was rumored to be an option for Iowa for awhile. I don’t think any of the PSU named are worth mentioning since they are unlikely to portal. Not going to waste much time speculating on these or any others (zoom zoom fast car) until they are actually in the portal.

Unless Beth has changed her stance on double birds AJ I don't see it. Otherwise he would have been on the team already. Maybe Tom finally talked her into a zero tolerance situation. Which I would bet a good deal on that outcome.

I agree the Frost's at 141 & 149 make a lot of sense- if Nasir can still hold down 133 ( I think he can better than Evan) and assuming Ryder is going to put on the muscle to be a true 157 which may be dreaming. That said I am higher on Estrada then most. So I'd rather be Crookham/ Estrada combo of sorts if need be. A healthy Crookham is a machine.

But I don't think Bob being in Ames is anything more that giving numbers and details to Metcalf & Carr on what the next 3 years will look like. I have a hard time believing if Metcalf packs up that there isn't a plan to eventually become Tom's successor. I would guess after Tom fulfills his contract. I hope Tom or Brent finds a way to get Kem on staff.

Edit to say this. I want Brands gone today- but you tell me in 3 years Metcalf will become a head coach and Carr & Kem are top assistants- I will sign off on that. Carr & Kem could be very elite recruiters.

im on team Estrada as well. He has amazing hips. If he has figured out how to finish his takedowns with his head up, he will man the spot well

Is Bailey out of the picture at 133? I thought he bumped to 141 for Ayala and assumed he would cut back down.

Sorry energy drink for lunch and now im worked up ..

Give me this staff and PSU & OK st are going to be tracked down.

Metcalf
Carr
Kem
Cory Clark- I would let Spencer run HWC.

Carr recruits the national guys and ohio. help the diversity recruiting- which imo was Burroughs greatest attribute and not actual coaching. .
Kem recruits PA and national guys.
Clark- IA, IL

Or bring Yaini in somehow- would never turn that down.
