That whiffed put-back dunk yesterday that could have cut the lead to 4 (instead, it goes to 8 seconds later), was a jaw-dropping "OMG" moment. Embarrassing, really.

Glaringly similar to MD??? About the ONLY comparison is that neither lived up to expectations. Pope has made the tournament both seasons with less talent than UNC had by far. MD won 1 tournament game and missed the tournament his other 2 seasons. MD went 8-20 his second year and 19-16 his third year.

As we know, North Carolina was loaded and still collapsed under MD. UK has had 2 straight years of makeshift rosters and has at least gotten in the tournament and won 3 games. Not UK standards but better than MD by a mile.

We can agree to disagree. A former UNC alum that fans wanted to love but failed miserably. That 19-16 record kinda sorta just maybe sounds like what we just went through. Dunno maybe my math is off though. I can have my own opinion, trust me it's ok!

Moreno just needs to get a lot stronger. He also has to improve his hand strength. He fumbled more balls away than any player I can remember. He was also easy to rip the ball away from.

Just hit the weight room, bring Oscar in for a few days to teach him how to actually block out.

I also wonder why it seems like our strength and conditioning program is below average. That needs to be addressed. Moreno should be a lot stronger. Same with AJ.

None of players this season seemed to be an exceptional condition, maybe the exception being Oweh.

Unless something drastic is changed, were gonna be so bad next year lol.. but if thats the case, im gonna enjoy rooting against Pope as maybe one of the worst coaching hires in sports over the last 25 years. No one, no team, and no fan should ever think that 7 footers are throwaways. We need MM back next year because the odds of getting someone better is slim. If he were to portal out, these four schools could do MM more good in developing than Pope.

I am not lying when I say this. My son has been going through a workout routine he’s getting strong and he’s 11. I don’t know if Mareno could take his ball. I assume he could, but he’s the weakest big man I’ve ever seen. Maybe there’s been some guys weaker and I’m just not recalling it, but he has no fire, no passion, no strength, and is just bully meat. Honestly I saw value in him early but I don’t see him turning into a force. Maybe as a senior which he won’t be here.

That said, he needs to be recruited over. He has potential, but he can’t really get faster and that hampered him big time.

He plays like a 1980 big man, minus the strength and post skill to do it at an elite level yet. He would be a solid 15-20 mpg bench big man next year. If we rely on him to be a starter again we are cooked.

He might turn into something good by senior year or something but it won’t be next season. So way a guy that weak turns into a FF caliber big next season. Pope is just as bad as he is. You continue to leave out context to make it better for Mark. Look at this lbs for lbs. did Doherty have millions and millions of dollars to buy players? No. He didn’t. This is the part that is so conveniently left out. And Doherty left a title team behind, imagine Mark doing that. Wouldn’t happen.

Pope is just as bad of a coach, he’s a worse recruiter. But Mark has millions of dollars to hand out. You’re not going to see a 5 win season because he’ll always be able to pay a big money to secure someone good enough who won’t win 5 games. This is one of the reasons Barnhart did it, he figured the money would recruit for him. Mark wouldn’t be at UK without the NIL.

Given that, Mark is really bad. He’s not okay he’s bad. And he hasn’t had 2 makeshift rosters, what? this is another thing that continues to be said that isn’t true. Last year he was able to pay enough to land one of the best shooters in the nation, he had a final four level PG, he had good players he signed on the brand Calipari left behind and lots of cash. Now that it’s his brand it’s gotten worse as time has gone on and he can’t even buy players. Mark is one of the worst recruiters I’ve ever seen in my life. And that’s verifiable. Mark has spent MILLIONS of dollars at KENTUCKY. The premier program. And he sucks.

But Mark lbs for lbs is extremely bad considering his resources. He’s also embarrassing and is butchering the brand. I’ve never seen UK made fun of like I am under his tenure.

I don’t know if some are being intentionally misleading or flat out just don’t understand the modern era. But some really don’t seem to get it. You have to look at this in full context. You can’t compare the eras in a vacuum which is what a few of these guys continue to try and do. It’s disingenuous or just flat out ignorant. And when it’s brought to attention, they won’t respond to it. It’s like they see and it makes their gaslit brain turn to a Gen Z stare.

I like Moreno, but what skills does he possess that lead people to believe that he's anywhere close to an NBA talent?

He's not a great rim protector, he doesn't have elite explosiveness, he's not particularly quick, he doesn't shoot with range, is a mediocre passer, and definitely needs to get MUCH stronger.

I do believe that he can develop into a really good college player, but right now, he's not even that.

• He is a talented player that needs his body to mature and develop; when that happens he'll be an outstanding college basketball player.
