You shut your mouth (on Pope still being here). Just the mere thought depresses me.
He won’t be. Even making a few sweet 16’s or something the seasons are bad and S16’s don’t mean jack. Easy to see the trajectory is not sustainable and I doubt boosters are going to sit and watch Kentucky get blasted in recruiting or on the floor all year that long.

seems to me Rondo will have his kid go somewhere he will win and get paid, both. Let’s see how we are doing in a few years. Don’t think we would be considered if we aren’t able to do both. Add - have some real talent around him coming or staying.

Wow!! 8th grader, 13 years old and just scored 25 points in the State Tournament.

I doubt there are many "19 yr old hold back seniors" for KY high schools, maybe just a handful across the whole state. Many SRs are 17 (I was, as was both my kids).

But can we just bring him in next year to UK and request 8 years for him.

Jackson Co starting 5 has an avg age of 23 and most of them are on divorce number 2. They weren't held back for athletics though.

Lol.
That reminds me of when I was 13, and our 13yo all-star (baseball) team (small KY county) made it to the state tournament. I was big for 13 (5'10, 180 & had to shave) a head above everyone on my team. But we played some eastern KY team, they were all "corn-fed" (or 23) every single one of them was as big as I was (with Duck Dynasty beards....ok, I'm joking about that part).

JC’s team is nothing but freshman and softmores. Most of the kids quit due to having jobs because mommy and daddy dont spoil there arse like Laurel co and probably your county.
Appreciate the jab though, that was funny.

The covid year allowed kids in Kentucky to repeat a year that played sports. My son is a 18 yr old junior, will turn 19 in September. Most athletes in Kentucky high school did that.

This is 2026. I would say there are hundreds of hold back seniors in Kentucky and I'm probably low balling the number.

There are plenty. But it doesn't matter if some kid from BFE is 19 when his dad isn't Rajon Rondo

I was the youngest kid in my graduating class and turned 17 in December before graduation. I actually started early because of my grades and was moved up a year or would’ve been 18. Three of my teammates who had stayed back in six grade to play basketball were all 19. Tons of 19 year olds In High school, some older.

Kentucky’s governor allowed all athletes to repeat the 21-22 school year without having to sit out. My son got to repeat his 7th grade year. Most other schools were holding back their athletes already but they couldn’t take advantage of the covid year because they already had stayed back a year and there was an age restriction. It really helped our athletic teams to be more competitive since our school district wasn’t in the habit of keeping their athletes back a year. My son will turn 19 during September of his senior year.
