It was incredibly frustrating, and I wish Iowa had won, but at least Hausen's shot, between the decision to shoot it, the shooting form, and clanking it off the top of the backboard, was hilarious. I haven't gasped with laughter like that since I saw Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie a few weeks ago. Nice shot, Kobe, a foot to the right and you may have hit the rim.

Post-game BMc said Hausen was pushed and was "crafty" enough to get the shot off.

"We knew they would foul us before we could shoot".

There's that.
He's just covering for his player. You can't blame him. He isnt throwing Hausen under the bus ever.

We ahd lots of time to get a better shot up and should have taken that time. He lost us the PSU game as well IMO. Throwing up a POS floater in the lane. Probably our worst possible option at that time.

He should never have been in the game.

All things considered, it was one of the better officiated games of the year, I'll agree, but there were still some glaring mistakes.
When I was younger, I’d jump off the couch every time an opponent’s player breathed on ours. 🤣 I’d curse the refs and pout and get on boards and *****. 😊 But I didn’t feel that way when I watched other teams play, finding most games fairly called. I only realized what I was doing when I watched a Michigan fan friend of mine do the same during their game against Purdue.

My buddy who I watched the game with at a bar and is a huge wrestling fan was beyond shocked at the whole thing as well... I certainly blame Ben for it. You goto Stirtz or Koch in that situation no matter what. If Hausen is good enough to take that shot then he should have been playing A WHOLE LOT more this season and not be put in that position!

The game was called pretty fairly. We shot the same number of free throws as they did. Personal foul numbers were practically even.
Anyway, I’m not saying you do this, but some people on this board complain too much about the calls. Some even claim there is a conspiracy against Iowa. 😊 Having played organized sports for years, that is just the stuff of overly passionate fans.
Cheers. And go Hawks!
Hope they don’t play like today in the tourney.

I actually don’t think the game was determined one bit by the officials today. Which having Dorsey and High Knees officiating isn’t usually the case. I’d love to see Iowa’s record against conference foes when Dorsey officiates. I’d be willing to bet my posting privileges that Iowa is, at best, a 35% winning percentage or below when he officiates over the last five seasons.

There were a few questionable calls that went against Iowa and probably a few that went against OSU. I didn’t think today was on the officials at all.

I’ll always call out poor officiating when I see obvious calls or bizarre calls get made. Like Iowa getting called for two illegal screens. It’s like holding, you could call them almost every possession. When they choose to call them is the interesting part.

Agreed.

I missed the first half, but it seemed pretty even in the 2nd half.

IMO the play of the game was when Howard dribbled it off his foot. A bucket there and it would have changed the way the final played out. Once again rather than taking the ball to the hoop he was thinking about dribbling thru and making a circus pass back to a trailer. Passing up open shots has been an issue thru out this season. How many shot clock violations have there been looking for just one more pass?

I didn't have a chance to see the game. Haven't seen the replay of that shot but hard not to agree with your comment. Why would you put Hausen in at this point in a critical situation? The staff can't manage personnel decisions like that in the tournament and not exactly the first time Hausen has failed us late in games when it mattered. Not upset seeing that we lost. But this issue bothers me playing in the postseason when Ben and company should have things figured out. Don't want to end the season with ???

Yep, he should have taken strong for the jam or draw contact and get to the foul line.

He’s either in the rotation or he’s not….. putting players in at key moments after sitting for two or three full games is bizarre.

I think they think is a win having a shot clock violation versus live ball turnovers kind of like punting in Football

FWIW, in intrasquad practice situations Hausen is routinely the best 3 point shooting option on the team. So there are reasons why they might insert him into situations where they need some offensive punch.

11am BTN
Ohio St -1.5
O/U 139.5

These two teams match up quite evenly looking at the statistics. Ohio State is a little better offensively in Iowa is a tad better defensively.

I expect a close game with the buckeyes pulling it out at the end 73-69.
Great guess

Couldn't watch the game today but I'm watching highlights on youtube and I'm already pissed at the officials.

Tilly pure acting job end of 1st half gets them 2 free throws off a miss he couldn't have rebounded anyway. **** that **** straight to hell. This should've been a tech for flopping.

I thought Iowa made a great comeback but lost it when they gave up 4-5 offensive rebounds late in the game. I expected Ohio State to win by 15-20 points because they had all their players back and you knew they wouldn't hold Thornton down again. I wouldn't be anxious to play either team in the tournament...I think they are both dangerous teams, OSU because of their talent, Iowa because of their teamwork and style.

We had two shot clock violations in the first half, one where Stirtz passed the ball to Howard like a hot potato with 4 seconds left. SHOOT THE BALL. Has anyone explained to these kids that turnovers are worse than any shot? A shot can go in. You can even miss and get a second shot, imagine that! Also, we have some really quick players like Howard and Stirtz, why not try and jump some of these lazy cross court passes teams are making on the perimeter? OSU was telegraphing some of those.

Oh I don't know, maybe cuz Stirtz has a target on him. Coach's post game interview explains why to all the reporters when the same question was asked.
