Ben seemed pretty adamant that Hausen was fouled, which is why he shot it.

Well then in that case, I blame Hausen.

Unfortunately, replay showed he wasn't - unless he was fouled before actually catching the ball.

Mobley reached out like he was going to shove Hausen in the hip/side area as he caught the ball and turned to throw up that ugly slop of a shot, but pulled back before making any real contact.

That's one of those moments you give it to Bennett and no one else, no matter how obvious it is.
The women always managed to get the ball to Caitlin even when everyone in the universe knew that's what they wanted to do. They ALWAYS got her the ball. Look at the double screen with 1.5 seconds to go against Indiana--or was it Ohio State. Anyway, you know the game. Caitlin ran from one sideline to the other past a couple of screens, Kate Martin inbounds the ball behind her, but CC grabs it, spins, fires off balance, swish. Iowa wins by one. And, of course, that wasn't the only time CC hit a game winner in similar circumstances.

Iowa and Stirtz haven't been able to do that. Again, somewhat like football, Iowa plays just well enough to lose close. Man, that hurts. The football team never caught a break, and neither has this basketball team. Maybe the breaks will finally fall Iowa's way in the NCAA . . . but I'm not holding my breath.

#8 seed IOWA
#1 seed DUKE

Bend over, bit.ches!!!!
That's how it went far too often under Tom Davis. It seemed Iowa ALWAYS drew Duke in the second round . . . Of course, there are only 60-some other teams, so it's tough to avoid an Iowa-Duke matchup.

Sage was more open when he was bringing the ball up. Might have been better to just play it out, instead of calling timeout and let OSU get their defense set.

Much rather have Sage pulling up for 3 than whatever the F that was
I thought too actually.

That last play was messed up. I was thinking Koch for the final shot but he broke too early (and then had to stop and restart killing his flow and timing) from the far corner to what I assume was to be a shot in the the near coffin corner but he didn’t make it in time. He got caught in no man’s land between the 3 point line and basket near the baseline.

We were left with a broken play with Hausen with his momentum going away from the basket in between the wing and corner.

I don't know if AF missed that free throw on purpose but if he did it was pretty damn stupid to miss the first one for a chance to rebound and win.

Didn’t say it was. It’s just funny to see a guy cutting to the rim, getting ran into, and getting called for an offensive foul. Two guys ran jnto each other, a decent way away from the ball and Banks gets called for a foul. It was pretty clear that he wasn’t trying to set a screen.
The game was called pretty fairly. We shot the same number of free throws as they did. Personal foul numbers were practically even.
Anyway, I’m not saying you do this, but some people on this board complain too much about the calls. Some even claim there is a conspiracy against Iowa. 😊 Having played organized sports for years, that is just the stuff of overly passionate fans.
Cheers. And go Hawks!
Hope they don’t play like today in the tourney.

But there was plenty of time to pass out of it. It was just an awful decision by a kid who's hardly played all year.

81.8% I'd take that.
What's he shot, seven FTs all season? I have no idea how many, but going to the line down three with a few seconds left is a challenge for anyone, let alone a kid who's hardly seen the floor all year. That percentage, given the tiny sample size and the circumstances, means nothing. I would wager there's no way he would've hit all three FTs, but we'll never know, mostly because he wasn't fouled . . .

All things considered, it was one of the better officiated games of the year, I'll agree, but there were still some glaring mistakes.

Best possible outcome. This team desperately needs rest. Stirtz especially.
I am not against this thinking. Sure you want to win every game but every bracket I have seen, has us in... We win this game and we move from a 9 to 8 seed? Let's get some rest and enjoy being in the big dance, I would much rather be in the Sweet 16 than the Quarterfinals of the BTT.

Hausen wasn't fouled, but even if they had called it, what are the odds Hausen, in that situation, makes all three FTs? Plus, there was still plenty of time for OSU to get a shot off. It was just messed up, man. Messed up.
Coach said he was pushed. I use his take over yours. Lol

The best part about having roughly a week off will be the inevitable slow start can be blamed on rust by the announcers. So we've got that going for us, which is nice.
Eh, we will probably slow start even if we had won the BTT...

Duke was national champions both years.
Iowa even had home court in 1991.

Well, it happened twice. '91 and '92. '92 Iowa as a 9 seed, it was a 2/7 game in '91. I don't care to make it a 3rd time this year, thank you.

Then Iowa got Kentucky in the 1/8 2nd round game in '97.
